@noneshallpass very good! Agreed.
How Many Magnets/Markers for the Technology Board?
-
I love how everyone who posts videos about GW 36 uses markers with magnets to track their technological progress. I think a 15" by 30" surface will allow sufficient space for both the technology chart and the IPP production tracker.
Here are my updated estimates:
China CCP: 0-1
China KMT: 0-1
France: 2
German: 12
Japan: 8
Italy: 5
UK: 8
USA: 12
USSR: 10China CCP/KMT would need to become a Major Power, then purchase a Major Factory. This is unlikely.

Your estimates are way, way too high. CCP and KMT have no major factory, so no research. France has one but will get wiped out before it reaches level four with one tech. Japan and Italy start with only one major factory.
I got a set of 80 self-adhesive magnets to cover both tech and income tracking and still have some left over.

@noneshallpass You are so helpful, NoneShallPass! Thanks for saving me $$$!

Here’s what I was using as a guide: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0-d5NRvzq-w
If you pause at 12:00, you can see in RC’s GW36 v3 game that he has massive amounts of tech researched. Perhaps they had a house rule or did something to increase the speed of researched technology.

I watched the clip and that tech board makes little sense for the standard rules.
For instance, Canada has roundels on it, but its supposed to share the Commonwealth tech (CAA 1.2). I don’t see how the Dutch are supposed to get three techs either, as they don’t even have a factory at the start of the game…
On a budget note, I found that the cardboard Axis & Allies roundels are good enough to stick to a magnet for use on the tech board.

Ya my magnets have roundels glued to them

@gen-manstein I want to see more of your board, Gen Manstein!!! This looks super interesting! Seems like you have all the victory objectives for each country laid out so people can see who has accomplished what. Post more pictures! Everything you have up because I think I’m your disciple. 8 )

Here’s the 3 charts. One is weather. Haven’t made new one yet
-
Here’s an old version tech chart for 36.
As you can see the magnetics are very strong. Hold through 1:8 PLEX glass plus 3 mm styreneAnyway u can buy these magnets at hobby lobby for 8-9 bucks for 50 or 60 of them. 3/4” just a bit bigger than roundels I glue to them with super glue.

@gen-manstein Thanks so much, my friend!
Loved this:
It’s an inspiration!

So answers:
He used the Dutch and Canadians for extras for the UK and USSR I believe. I am surprised with the amount of tech, but it is very possible if you put some money into factories and got good rolls.
