Axis and Allies 1914, Amphibious Assault do enemy ships need to be destroyed

@Krieghund Thanks. I don’t play a lot of 1914 so some of the mine rules are pretty wonky for me. The bit about mines halting movement in particular is pretty important.

You can only move land units out of a contested territory into a territory which at the beginning of your turn was either under your control or contained units belonging to you.  Since Ukraine meets neither of those conditions for Germany, Germany may not move land units there from contested Poland.  However, since Moscow is not contested, Germany may move land units into Ukraine from there.

True, we don’t know if Britain can send help to Russia.  My thought was that the UK is the most flexible country from the start- in that it should be able to supply help where needed.  The USA is also flexible, but 5-6 turns from helping.

I might paint my pieces, but only in national colours. Being able to identify a unit is more important than authentic camouflage or uniform colour.

However I prefer a muted mat finish, with dry-brushed weathering effects added on. A custom board will determine if I keep the official colour scheme - the Great East Prussia Question may well determine that.

I have often felt that WotC has lacked a strong plan for the Axis & Allies brand. There’s SO much more that they could do to market (at low cost too). Consider the way they’ve invested D&D Encounter and the Game Finder webpage. A similar investment in the A&A brand could do wonders for insuring a healthy A&A market for the future.

The pathetic official webpage is a dismal representation of any business plan that they have at WotC/Hasbro for developing the brand.
