For your reference, the A&A Revised FAQ:
-
Faqs they are official?
-
i don’t understand this example
Is antiaircraft fire targeted against specific aircraft?
A. Yes. In practice, you can roll a handful of dice against all enemy fighters, then roll another handful
against all enemy bombers. The reason for this rule is so that bombers will be forced to take hits from
AA guns. -
Is this when you do a strategic bombing?

Is antiaircraft fire targeted against specific aircraft?
A. Yes. In practice, you can roll a handful of dice against all enemy fighters, then roll another handful
against all enemy bombers. The reason for this rule is so that bombers will be forced to take hits from
AA guns.Say you attack a territory with 2 fighters and 2 bombers. In that case the AA-gun rolls twice against the fighters and twice against the bombers. Let’s assume 1 hit against the fighters and 1 hit against the bombers. The attacker has to choose a fighter and a bomber.
If that rule wasn’t there you might have wanted to roll 4 rolls against all four planes. In case of two hits the attacker would have possibly chosen two fighters as casualties. That is why the above clarification has been included.

Guess you can’t shoot 4 shots? This forum category - as well as the FAQ-excerpt your question was about - is dedicated to the Revised edition. In Revised an AA-gun shoots one shot at every attacking plane. The rule you are referring to is from newer games, for example 1942 2nd edition or Europe/Pacific/Global 1940 2nd edition.
What actually is the game version/edition you are interested in?
-
currently we play global
but I also play Europe and the Pacific
So these frequently Faqs questions would not be worth me?
-
