That was disappointing. I did a half dozen practice runs and they all went way better than that!

UK lost 3 units to kill the 3 units left in 110. There’s also the defensive hits to consider when you have more units leftover.

That’s the summary of it. It’s not that bad considering that the German battleship is down and the Scotland fighter wasn’t lost in the German opening.

btw @Zhukov: Not sure if you are aware so just in case. The tripleA calculator has a bug in the latest versions. There are some issues when Japan is the attacker and e.g. UK (Not UK Pacific) is the defender. For some strange reason the calculator messes up with defending AA, giving Japan better odds than they have.
Just compare the calculation with the air strike at Burma you made. You will get different results when selecting Italy as attacker instead of Japan against defending UK.

btw @Zhukov: Not sure if you are aware so just in case. The tripleA calculator has a bug in the latest versions. There are some issues when Japan is the attacker and e.g. UK (Not UK Pacific) is the defender. For some strange reason the calculator messes up with defending AA, giving Japan better odds than they have.
Just compare the calculation with the air strike at Burma you made. You will get different results when selecting Italy as attacker instead of Japan against defending UK.
Thanks for the head’s up. I think I was pretty aware of the risks, but decided to roll some dice in response to Adam’s aggressive deployment. For instance, I didn’t like diverting 2 figs to kill the cruiser (and I prolly would have done much better if i hadn’t), but felt it was necessary to make the deployment work. I ran the deployment several times in local mode and kept winning Burma comfortably w/o significant tuv losses. ….And then ran it in pbem mode and was reminded why I tended to avoid major risks and grab-India-fast plans in 2nd edition.
But so far I think Axis needs to take some risks to win in BM3 (against optimally played Allies), including trying to take India as quickly as possible.

Thanks for the explanation. Just wanted to inform about the bug in the calculator. I made decisions on wrong assumption by the faulty calculations.
Re the need that axis has to take risks: interestingly adam is undefeated with the Axis without taking risks and playing rather safely. Not sure how optimal his opponents played the Allies though:-)
