Hi Mallery. I am afraid I have not read that book. Doesn’t sound like my thing.
Victory definitely worth a visit. Is in Portsmouth, about 90mins from central London.
Have never seen a Battleship and that one sounds interesting. Thanks.
Historical Accuracy of Movies
-
This article…
https://ca.movies.yahoo.com/news/seven-films-that-got-history-spot-on-151852130.html
…discusses the unusually high level of historical accuracy of seven films, three of which (Downfall; Tora, Tora, Tora; and Glory) have a military focus.
Amusingly, the article itself contains an error – or at least a misleading statement. It says that “not every Hollywood production plays so fast and loose with history… some are extremely accurate - especially for a movie!”, but the first film it mentions to demonstrate this, Downfall, was a German production, not a Hollywood one.

Thanks Marc.
Didn’t know Genda was an advisor for Tora, Tora. Wow!
Downfall had to be fairly accurate, considering the main source and other details known (as explained). Makes me happy to see that experts agree. And I know the ending of Glory was correct. -
I wish more people would discuss the historical inaccuracy of the regular evening news. What a joke!
Good article Marc.
