The carrier does not need to move in combat so can reserve its commitment to move to land the fighters until non combat.

If the fighters are both dead then that commitment is no longer required, allowing the carrier can go elsewhere in non-combat.

Hi black_elk, I will have a look at it today :) Sounds like the strategy I use: Build a huge fighter squadron to protect west-russia, india and china, wherever help is necessary.

Sure, as a matter of combat value, the planes are better. The issue is that America tends to literally run out of combat units in China by round 2 or 3 – all their infantry are dead, so they have nothing to take or trade territories with. Since the point of even a successful Chinese campaign is to delay Japan’s progress west rather than to actually defeat the Japanese army, not being able to capture territories is a huge problem – you can bomb a stack of Japanese tanks to hell, but the tanks will still move an average of 2 spaces per turn. If you can capture a territory, sometimes you can reduce the movement rate back down to 1 space per turn or even 1 space every other turn.

You can put units out in any “eligible spaces you have controlled since the start of your turn.” (Rules P 22) It doesn’t matter what original plans you had for the carrier.

During SBR runs, if a defending Fighter Interceptor(s) is hit during the Interception battle phase, before the SBR run is conducted, the hit Fighter Interceptor doesn’t fire back? If so, that’s a really stupid rule…

It is attacking escorting fighters which get a hit @1 preemptive. If the case, then a defending interceptor (defending @2) is immediatly removed from play.

In 1942.2 OOB SBR, this way of doing is more historically accurate but statistically less interesting from an attacker POV vs Global 1940 SBR.
