    if by “hold” you mean “survive”… it’s a moot question. if by “hold” you mean “defeat”… the jury’s still out. british help from india is going to be necessary, but it’s available, so the odds of my getting that 8th vc in volgograd are looking slim…

    By hold, I mean Russia preventing Germany from winning before the Indians and Americans can come help.

    Without British help it would be difficult. But the name of the game is “Axis and Allies,” not “Germans and Russians.” 'Twill be difficult to take down the red bear… I am finding in just the few games I have played that this is tough for the Axis to win… :)

    Yes.  And it drives me absolutely insane when people say “Oh Germany can beat Russia easily” etc.  Sure, in classic, revised, a little harder in anniversary, but it’s rather difficult in 1940 to take out Russia with Germany!

    It can be done.  It generally requires Japan to invade heavily and Italy to threaten Caucasus hard along with a German take down of London, but it’s not “easy”
