    @hkytown1:

I recently saw Whiplash, Nightcrawler, and Kill the Messenger. All fantastic and highly recommended.

Nightcrawler is one I want to watch.

A good video on how to make better action movies today, when a great many are just blah. This could almost be applied to a movie of any genre to varying degrees.

Wish he would have detailed more examples of what the bad ones are, but overall it is sufficient.

  • HITMAN Agent 47 is coming. :-)

I liked the first one and also played the video game once, I liked it.

Just saw Kingsman, it was a lot better then I thought.  Very good action with a lot of humor/cheekiness. I’d say James Bond meets Shaun of the Dead meets Jason Bourne meets Austin Powers. “Yea Baby!”  Go see it.

Just saw John Wick… not as good as I wanted it to be, not as good as the equalizer which I didn’t write home about either, in comparison I thought it was going to be much like Jack Reacher which I really enjoyed, however… it was nothing like it. If you like a lot of action with guns, you might like John Wick, but the story was very John Weak.

Two of my buddies said the exact same thing about John Wick. I guess I’ll pass.

Now, on August 14th, the N.W.A. movie is set to be released. That along with Mad Max are the two movies I’m really stoked to see. The N.W.A. trailer really looks cool.

  • @General:

And while I can understand Disney’s decision to start from scratch with the sequels, it’s a shame the EU has been cast aside like some fan-fiction rags. Not that all of it was great, but Heir to the Empire helped keep the SW flame and fanbase alive during the late 80s/early 90s dark ages. Too bad it won’t get any acknowledgment.

Throwing away Heir to the Empire makes no sense. Even the Prequels acknowledged Heir to the Empire by using Coruscant as the official name for the capital planet. Sadly, the leaks on Episode VII don’t seem to agree with Heir to the Empire…

    I plan to.

  • Gotham the series is on the start here in Germany right now.
I find it kind of cool how most of the mean Charakters are projected right from the start, but makes me wonder how old they must be when Batman will be grown up and rise.
Isn’t it like Batman fights retired gangsters?
Other then that it looks good.  :-)

  • I watched San Andreas today.
Good movie, I liked it so did my wife, even though we hated the Earthquakes in SoCal.
Reminded us on that 7.2 off of Mexico a few years ago were we still felt it shaking in Riverside County.
Earthquakes are one thing I can’t get used to ….

Dwayne Johnson is a good actor and I liked watching him.

I like Johnson too. More since I watched the Fast and Furious movies.

San Andreas looks ridiculous and totally unbelievable. Just seems particularly over-the-top, even for a disaster movie. I was very surprised that it went to #1 this past weekend. But people seem to like it… I don’t know.

It looks like 2012 all over again, I’m hoping these kind of movies die out, but they continue to draw the masses due to the eye candy. I prefer post apocalyptic films where humans face more creative dangers other than mother nature.

Humans vs Mother nature is okay to a point. But when Mother is clearly on steroids and meth is where it gets utterly unwatchable. Something a little more nuanced and complicated would be best, but I don’t think that is the intent for San Andreas.

Agenda for this movie (from TV spots) seems to be:  Huge destruction, Dwayne J. Muscles, Peril&Action, Huge Destruction.

  • San Andreas is no different than Avengers, they both sell more soda, spicy Cheetos, and burrito’s to mind numbed fat people who want to turn off their minds while watching “movies”.

    Pass the Mountain Dew…

  • Coke Zero will destroy her Kidneys. The phosphorus should be avoided. No butter on Popcorn, no salt either

Thank you IL but we drink the Zero stuff in moderations.
While I had salted Popcorn, she preferred suggard one (finished it before movie begun) :-D.
Thank you for the concerns about my wifes health, very kind.

I went just to see the Golden Gate Bridge get destroyed since I work for the District, too cool. Now, the only movie I need to see other then Mad Max is the new NWA movie which should be amazing if you’re in your 40’s like me :-D
