• I stumbled on the thread asking for a list of the victory cities and was stunned to see that Ottawa was a VC. I’ve never ever heard anyone talk about capturing Ottawa. So I decided I"m going to keep that in mind for the future.

Future came quickly. In solo game, Paris was liberated the turn before Moscow fell so I was a VC short of victory. US was can opening for UK which had 4 transports in the channel and was dropping 8 units off a turn, and there were 14 units in Paris. All my offense was in Moscow so wasn’t going to take it back. In fact I had to fight for my life to hold Berlin.

I had 3 transports and a battleship in the Baltic that returned from the Leningrad campaign. US had a large fleet, and the UK a medium fleet in the channel so nothing I can do with my lone battleship.

So I sent them north. Next turn I conquered Iceland.

On that turn Japan invaded Alaska and Western Canada with a Battleship and fully loaded AC. And moved a couple AC’s, and other ships and 8 transports to just outside Hawaii, with the island ringed with subs.

So USA had to go all in to get the Japanese off of North America and try to rescue Hawaii.

Next turn Germany captures Greenland. I tried to play this game as others would against me, etc. No one knows Ottawa is a VC, so US didn’t react by building an army in DC. Besides they were getting the snot kicked out of them in the Pacific. Eastern US almost empty

So next turn captured Ottawa for my 8th VC. I rolled out the two battles that could have extended the game and Germany held on.

So Ottawa won the game. Ottawa.

LOL, I misspelled Ottawa. Why no edit button?

  • @dazedwit

  • @barnee I found the edit button

Nice. I’ll advise that Germany was very lucky. I think most players know Ottawa is a victory city (after all, every city shown on the map is a victory city). I think this only works in a golden opportunity. I feel that most good players would at least “chase” the German fleet through the Atlantic and have the British or Americans build up land units in North America. At the very least, given the proximity of Allied bases in the area (Canada, Greenland, Iceland, Scotland), it’s real easy for a group of aircraft to attack the fleet and land safely.

  • @SuperbattleshipYamato

You will see in the game I’m playing now - not much to chase ships in the North Atlantic

I just finished up Anzac 4. It’s a pretty wild game. When I finish (maybe turn 6, but def turn 7) I’ll share the YouTube playlist for you guys. I decided to make vids so you guys can see me roll instead of questioning the results when I post photos.

  • @dazedwit

With respect, the photo doesn’t show much. It only shows the western side of the Atlantic. Most German forays taking the northern route are usually stopped on the eastern side, closer to where Britain is.

No need to post long video’s of you rolling a game your playing against yourself. Might as well post a tripleA savegame just as efficient and at least easy to skip forward.

And we mostly dont question rolls as well as moves. But i guess this is the same game where you gifted Germany London.
