Though if Japan could take India, they would’ve taken Yunnan already.
It’s virtually the only way to move from Europe to China.
Given this nation’s tumultuous past all throughout human history, up to and including recent years, I believe that Afghanistan should NEVER become a friendly neutral, regardless of circumstances. I believe it would be more authentic for Afghanistan to never become Pro-Allies or Pro-Axis.
Thoughts?
Thanks,
Franklin
Hi @franklin_cain looks as if you’re talking Global 40 game. My observation is that most people don’t like the oob Neutral rules, although I see why they did it that way. Since you’re in House rules, I suggest checking out
There are other neutral ideas out there as well, including some in that thread. Sure there are other ideas that have been discussed over the years as well.
As far as Afghanistan goes, i’d say the old “The Enemy of my Enemy is my Friend” probably holds true : )
I’m not sure where you guys are playing online. Link?
I realize this is an old thread.
We’re playing at home out of the box.
We’re developing some interesting diplomatic neutrality rules. Short version: These nations can be invited by dice roll to join the axis or allies. We use three dice. We have a chart giving the number on the dice that must be obtained to entice the nation to join…each inviting nation (playing nation) has a different number for each neutral country. So for instance, Brazil is much more likely to join the Allies if the US asks them, than if the USSR does. We buy diplomatic rolls like tech roles. We also allow discounts for multiple tech or diplo rolls purchased at once.
We’re developing additional rules to deal with multiple situations. It’s fun. So far Germany convinced Spain to join the Axis. But tried and failed to get Argentina to join. We also are coming up with additional units to deploy. Spain had a significant air force and navy, and Argentina and Chile had some of the most impressive navies among neutrals, being two of the very few nations in the world with at least one battleship.

Hi nylo
Most people play using triplea

Beamdog also has 1942 online

Looks like you got some cool rules going. Keep us updated on how it plays out. :)
This doesn’t have different Neutral Rules for the most part, but does have a different Soviet/Japan Non Aggression Pact and Mongolia Rules as well as a bunch of cool new Units and Rules.

We play Afghanistan as a Strict Neutral. Only Russia in game can influence.
But we do have an event card if drawn the Afghanistan’s become hostile Guerillas ( Japan Influencers ) like they did in WW 2 and attacked UK/FEC/Indian ground troops.
Have 4 inf there.
