WW2 Path to Victory - Rules Discussion

@simon33 I see your point, and understand your logic, and this is why I’m looking for ad official a ruling as I can get, which is what I believe we got earlier in the other thread (at one point this discussion was in the BM thread and then here in the PtV thread).

Krieghund has said it.

@simon33 so in my situation 3 above, are you saying that there would or wouldn’t be a sea battle?

Attacker has the option of attempting the assault. If the defender chooses not to scramble (e.g. because they want to scramble somewhere else), the assault proceeds.
If there is a defending sub and only an attacking CV, if the scramble happens, the sub keeps defending against the CV until it sinks it, assuming the defender doesn’t foolishly submerge.
Is it clear now?
-
@simon33 yep. Thanks!
-
I have a doubt … can only one transport (without surface ships) be defended by a CV in an adjacent zone? Triple A asks for the scramble but in the rules it seems to me that it refers to a present warship …
-
@Avner It cannot, transports aren’t warships.
-
thanks.
So even if the program calls the scramble it should not be considered (also applies to ground units … I checked). -
@Avner There’s no ground unit that would not allow a scramble if it’s in the territory being attacked, even AA guns.
-
@Adam514
I meant that I gave it a try.
even in the absence of land units,
for example on an island, tripleA calls a CV scramble on a nearby SZI don’t know if that’s correct, with respect to the rules
-
@Avner Cannot scramble to empty territories, but even if you misclick and do scramble, it wouldn’t actually result in a battle.
-
@Adam514 roger ;)

@ArmedAce said in WW2 Path to Victory - Feedback Thread:
Is Afghanistan supposed to be not connected with central India? It looks like it should be, but I tried moving units between the two areas and it did not work. Perhaps a bug?
Seems to be.
Reposting in the rules thread.

@simon33 thanks for flagging this issue. A new version (v 5.2) is now available for download (u must manually delete and reinstall the map), which has the connection between Afghanistan and Central India.

Note - Return of Scrambled Planes: A scrambling plane must return to the place from which it scrambled, unless that place is no longer a viable landing spot (either because the territory was taken, or the scrambling carrier was damaged/destroyed). If the place from which the plane scrambled is no longer a viable landing spot, the plane may land in any available spot that is adjacent to or in the battle zone itself. Note: Per the foregoing rule, scrambled planes may land in eligible Friendly-Neutral territories that have already been attacked by the other side (play enforced).
I the case that the scrambled plane cannot return to its airbase or starting CV, if it is possible to remain in the battle space, is it required to or can it move to any adjacent space, defender decision. Or something else?
-
@simon33 in the event the originating territory is taken, the scrambled fighter may land in the territory to which it successfully defends or in any adjacent landing spot.

This is beginning of US1.
What happens if on Italy does not attack Southern France/Toulon Fleet? F2, Toulon fleet moves. G2 - G takes normandy. I2 - Italy does NOT invade Southern France again. There are no allies units in southern france. Vichy criteria has been met. Does it trigger? What happens to the French units that moved that would normally go Vichy?
@tanios
@regularkid -
Well it still triggered in BM so presumably.
-
So does all the french ships turn vichy wherever they are?
-
@mainah good question. The fleet at Toulon only falls in Vichy hands if it is at port when the armistice occurs. It the fleet is out at at sea (any sz other than sz 95), the ships remain free French. The same is true Balance Mod.
Similarly, any French land units that move out of French territory before it turns Vichy remain free French.
