100-249 is Artillery
250-499 is Tank
500-999 is Submarine
1000-1499 is Fighter
1500-1999 is Destroyer
2000-2499 is Bomber
2500-2999 is Aircraft Carrier
3000-4999 is Battleship
5000+ is Heavy Bomber -

35-99 is Mechanized InfantryYes, the post to which the above link leads dates from 2006, and the rank structure at the time reflected the A&A units that existed at the time. The two 1940 games which arrived a few years later introduced new units, including the Mechanized Infantry unit which is now part of the revised rank structure. The 1940 games also replaced the unqualified term “Bomber” with two more specific types.

I’m wondering if perhaps the current board ranks Bomber (2000-2499) and Heavy Bomber (5000+) should be updated to reflect the newer A&A 1940 terminology of Tactical Bomber and Strategic Bomber, which are actual unit (and sculpt) types in the 1940 games, as opposed to the older Heavy Bombers being a tech upgrade to the unqualified Bomber unit but not a new sculpt type.

Not knowing about the history you mentioned above, I had always thought that “Mechanized Infantry” addressed the tech upgrade, as Heavy Bombers do, too.
Having signed in to AaA.org in 2008, I now recall to have gone through the steps “Conscript”, “Infantry”, “Mech Infantry”, too…
So maybe the enhancement of the “lower than 100 ranks” had been introduced already any time between 2006 and (late) 2008?On a sculpts-base your idea is good, for sure.

Maybe expanding upward into higher post counts so we can add the newer units added in later games could be fun.
