Wild boys
-
if you can please help me to clarify one part of this song, thank you :-)
Now the figureheads have fell
And lovers war with arrows over
Secrets they could tell“Wild Boys”
The wild boys are calling
On their way back from the fire
In august moon’s surrender to
A dust cloud on the rise
Wild boys fallen far from glory
Reckless and so hungered
On the razors edge you trail
Because there’s murder by the roadside
In a sore afraid new worldThey tried to break us,
Looks like they’ll try againWild boys never lose it
Wild boys never chose this way
Wild boys never close your eyes
Wild boys always shineYou got sirens for a welcome
There’s bloodstain for your pain
And your telephone been ringing while
You’re dancing in the rain
Wild boys wonder where is glory
Where is all you angels
Now the figureheads have fell
And lovers war with arrows over
Secrets they could tellThey tried to tame you
Looks like they’ll try againWild boys never lose it
Wild boys never chose this way
Wild boys never close your eyes
Wild boys always shine -

i know its a duran duran
but i would like to ask you to clarify me that part beacuse i cant literally translate the words… its a song, an interesting one :-)Grammatically, there is a lot incorrect. But when it comes to art, while there may be a meaning, a lot is up for interpretation.
No idea on what it’s supposed to mean… -
Amon-Sul:
why do you worry so much about these lyrics?
Duran Duran is a stupid band of british kids who actually had dental work. They hardly have artistic talent because they represent popular music which is a digestable form of art for the masses. It has no value after the first couple of years after it came out.
Why not get something from William Shakespeare and try to get at that. It would help you more than something drunk Simon lebon wrote when he was 20.

Even in the genre of “'80’s pop” Duran Duran was just a flash in the pan. A group of good looking guys who rode the “Music Video” craze to stardom. The precursor to “Boy bands” of the '90’s. All fluff no substance. If you’re looking for meaningful lyrics and awesome musical talent check out Fleetwood Mac…Stevie Nicks is the bomb!

Heres something from Ultravox:
I want to be a machine-
I found the bones of all your ghosts
Locked in the wishing well
While birdsong gourmets dragged empty nets
I slumbered in my shellIn mitternacht, die mensch-maschine
Kissed me on my eyes
I rose and left the fire-ladies
Glowing lonely in the night
With all the pornographers
Burning torches beneath the seaChorus:
I want to be a machine
I want to be a machine
I want to be a machine
I want to be a machineI stole a cathode face from newscasts
And a crumbling fugue of songs
From the reservoir of video souls
In the lakes beneath my tongue
In flesh of ash and silent movies
I walked at boulevards again
A nebula of unfinished creatures
From the lifetimes of my friends
I hope your innocence has depraved me(Chorus)
Broadcast me, scrambled clean
Or free me from this flesh
Let the armchair cannibals take their fill
In every cell across wilderness
We’ll trip such a strangled tango
We’ll waltz a wonderland affair
Let’s run to meet the tide tomorrow
Leave all emotion dying there
In the star cold beyond all of your dreams

Stranger Within—
Light comes through a crack in the door
I tape up the windows once more
Tight like a cold hand of steel
Don’t fear the stranger withinHands that petrify in the air
Eyes catching things never there
Sweet tension caught on my breath
Don’t fear the stranger withinWatch every shape that escapes
Scared to make the final mistake
Speak to hear the sound of your voice
Don’t fear the stranger withinSit in the corner with your back to the wall
Pray to your God with your head in your hands
Your mask of fear is shrinking fast
It’s closing in more amour
You stand on borrowed time, your sweating palms and chilling brow
Your wide-eyed panic makes you laugh, you cry and laugh
Freeze until the noise decays, a shuffle from behind a door
Your throat is tight, it makes you choke and smoke and choke
Eyes will grow accustomed to the dark, a stifled scream that won’t come out
There’s nothing more to fear from the stranger withinDon’t fear the stranger within
I feel the stranger within
I see the stranger within
Don’t know the stranger within
I am the stranger within
I am the stranger within
