L24: Arthur Bomber Harris vs Farmboy (A+41) OOB
-
@Arthur-Bomber-Harris just realized I forgot to say I assumed a submerge in 19 on the last US turn. Doesn’t effect anything on the other side I think if you were to reconsider.
And this looks just about over but will try another turn
-
@farmboy if you think submerge was the best option, I trust your judgement.
-
@Arthur-Bomber-Harris I assumed because you had done it on the prior one and the odds were substantially in my favour. But the odds of losing the sub were low and if your sub and your destroyer hit on defense I would have to lose a fig. But if my sub hit, you would definitely lose the sub as I had a ton of air. Not a critical decision by any stretch, but decided to go through for speed and meant to confirm after.
-
@farmboy probably very close decision. Let’s just proceed as played.

@Arthur-Bomber-Harris I think my situation has moved from desperate to hopeless. I’ll concede here. Well played and congrats on the win! And congrats also on what should be the championship!

@farmboy Thank you so much for the match. Such a pleasure with the fast game pace and difficult positional calculations. You pushed me to the limits with so strong of a defense for Russia. I could not break through into the Middle East for so many turns.
You also had great gameplay in China. That small miscalculation in India was costly and difficult to recover from. Japan was struggling for a long time with Anzac’s hold on one of the islands. It was a relief when the spending finally shifted to the Atlantic.
-
@Arthur-Bomber-Harris it was a great match and a lot of fun. I do think the misjudgement around India, and also earlier with the UK fleet in the med were the big errors I made. The former gave you a secure hold on India and the latter slowed down my allied game in Europe. That being said, I don’t want to explain my loss through my errors. You played a solid smart game and deserved the win. There were points at the end where I thought maybe I’ll be able to make a break through and turn things around and you stopped me every point. And it was clear at the end there that whatever I did, you were going to have Moscow in two more turns.
-
@farmboy that’s the beauty of bombers. I had the quadruple threat of Sea Lion, attacking the Atlantic fleet, and attacking down to Iraq. It is so hard to keep up the arms race against Germany.
I think your bid was a bit low. Probably a different outcome with Allies+50-ish which has become the new norm.
-
@Arthur-Bomber-Harris the bombers are definitely a challenge. A bit more bid would of course help. But I do think a win is doable at this bid and would love to try it again down the road.
