Again, sorry for the delay. I have been looking and thinking about our game, just mulling over the options. Haven’t played much against early DOWs in PtV so I’m considering where the priorities are for the current situation.
-
@flyingbadger I do think this is a very important round for the Allies given the DOW. And wow, I had forgotten how tough they made things for the Axis in PTV. And no worries with time.
-
@max334 Here we are, probably not worth the wait…

Edited the Chinese placement before the UK combat phase, was going to stack Yunnan with the UK but must have got my calculations wrong earlier as I double checked and it looked like a very bad idea. Hope that is okay? -

Yes, thought I could stack Yunnan with Chinese and Indian units and cause Japan trouble, but when I looked again at the numbers it seemed like it would be worth it for Japan to destroy them and then dominate that corner of Asia. Whenever I’m Japan, my opponent cause my constant trouble with UK DOW or big stacks in Yunnan, I haven’t been able to work it out though.

@flyingbadger this is only my second time playing axis in path to victory. Last game I just totally gave up China but then my income suffered.

In my very limited experience, holding Yunnan seems very important. It seems a very good position, if China can recapure it they get extra IPCs and if they hold it at the start then they can build artillery, which means they can threaten on offense. Otherwise it seems that Japan is better to just do enough to prevent China becoming a problem, especially with so many other objectives to acheive. Obviously I could be completely wrong. Certainly if Japan can threaten Russia’s rear by pushing through China it really changes the Eastern front for Germany.

you must have miss calculated. I have over 80% odds in Smolensk. If you land your planes in Smolensk instead of Moscow my odds drop to 40%. But you also have other options to get your units back to Moscow. Pls reconsider Russia’s NCMs
-
oh, my bad. I totally forgot about the land scramble. I see that you can scramble those three planes. But remember, if I attack I have the option of retreating, but you probably already considered all that

I hadn’t considered that… thanks for the opportunity to review and lesson to learn, I’ll take a look.
-
Is the thinking:
- Attack Bryansk with Italian 1 armour and 1 bomber against 1 infantry and 3 plane scramble to clear infantry from Bryansk
- Attack Smolensk with Germany with 1 armour looping through Bryansk, retreat after 1 round to Bryansk

Not sure what I’ll do in Russia, my mind has gone to the Pacific for now. But feel free to edit your defenses if you see something better -

damn… what happened in China… you weren’t supposed to attck me ): You know, it’s not that easy getting Japanese ground forces deep into China. You taught me a good lesson… I thought Id just continue to steam roll through China

I’ve been so far on my heels with China and causing such little trouble it worked in my favour!
