@bfreestone2002 What’s been going on since then? :)
WW2 Path to Victory - Rules Discussion

@Adam514
I meant that I gave it a try.
even in the absence of land units,
for example on an island, tripleA calls a CV scramble on a nearby SZI don’t know if that’s correct, with respect to the rules
-
@Avner Cannot scramble to empty territories, but even if you misclick and do scramble, it wouldn’t actually result in a battle.
-
@Adam514 roger ;)

@ArmedAce said in WW2 Path to Victory - Feedback Thread:
Is Afghanistan supposed to be not connected with central India? It looks like it should be, but I tried moving units between the two areas and it did not work. Perhaps a bug?
Seems to be.
Reposting in the rules thread.

@simon33 thanks for flagging this issue. A new version (v 5.2) is now available for download (u must manually delete and reinstall the map), which has the connection between Afghanistan and Central India.

Note - Return of Scrambled Planes: A scrambling plane must return to the place from which it scrambled, unless that place is no longer a viable landing spot (either because the territory was taken, or the scrambling carrier was damaged/destroyed). If the place from which the plane scrambled is no longer a viable landing spot, the plane may land in any available spot that is adjacent to or in the battle zone itself. Note: Per the foregoing rule, scrambled planes may land in eligible Friendly-Neutral territories that have already been attacked by the other side (play enforced).
I the case that the scrambled plane cannot return to its airbase or starting CV, if it is possible to remain in the battle space, is it required to or can it move to any adjacent space, defender decision. Or something else?
-
@simon33 in the event the originating territory is taken, the scrambled fighter may land in the territory to which it successfully defends or in any adjacent landing spot.

This is beginning of US1.
What happens if on Italy does not attack Southern France/Toulon Fleet? F2, Toulon fleet moves. G2 - G takes normandy. I2 - Italy does NOT invade Southern France again. There are no allies units in southern france. Vichy criteria has been met. Does it trigger? What happens to the French units that moved that would normally go Vichy?
@tanios
@regularkid -
Well it still triggered in BM so presumably.
-
So does all the french ships turn vichy wherever they are?
-
@mainah good question. The fleet at Toulon only falls in Vichy hands if it is at port when the armistice occurs. It the fleet is out at at sea (any sz other than sz 95), the ships remain free French. The same is true Balance Mod.
Similarly, any French land units that move out of French territory before it turns Vichy remain free French.
-
@regularkid
Thank you. I hadn’t run into it before, and never really occurred to me before the map change in PTV -
In one game where I was allies and Vichy activated in round 2 I had moved the French inf from French West Africa to French Central Africa and it turned Vichy there. I didn’t expect that although it was true to the rules.

Hey, hey guys. We are pleased to announce the release of version 6.0 of WW2 Path to Victory, now available for download on the TripleA Download Maps page. If you already have PTV installed, you can update to the latest version by clicking the “Installed” tab under “Download Maps,” and then selecting “Update” on PTV.
Based on your feedback and playtesting, version 6.0 incorporates the following substantive changes:
-
Carrier scrambles are now limited to a maximum of three planes from each sea zone adjoining the battle (player enforced);
-
Convoy blockade zones have been added to sea zones 43 and 38; and
-
Sea zone 46 (by Dutch New Guinea) has been redrawn to further differentiate the reach of the Malayan naval base from sea zone 38. The redrawn sea zone is shown below.
We hope you enjoy the changes and look forward to future games.

Would love to see a crossover between the Path to Victory map and the array of options in the TripleA House Rules variant.

If Germany builds a minor IC in USSR, and USSR takes it back, then Germany takes it, is the IC removed?

What I remember the rule said “originally owned”, so no.
-
@simon33 It is not removed.

@owentoo said in WW2 Path to Victory - Feedback Thread:
Hopefully this is a good place to get a rule clarification on this rule: "Revised Plane Landing Rules: It is legal to land air on newly built carriers. However, it is not legal to make a combat move that is only possible because of a newly built carrier. "
The turn in question is the American round 11 turn found here:
https://www.axisandallies.org/forums/topic/36206/owentoo-axis-vs-simon33-allies-ptv/175?page=7
The Americans launched 4 aircraft from CVs in 89 to attack SZ 105 (3 zones away) and then recovered the 2 surviving aircraft onto a newly built CV in 104. I feel that is illegal, and the Americans should have moved one of the launching CVs from 89 to either 91, 92 or 106 to recover the surviving aircraft.
What say our PTV developers?

Errata PTV (also posted under Feedback: Objective for German controlled territory: Iraq, Add “Southern” Persia or Northwest Persia. Italian objective already states “Southern” Persia.
