I think that is because the actual die for SBR by Bombers is rolled at face value, and then 2 is added. For example if you roll a 4, you do 6 damage, but you actually only rolled a 4, which would show up as MARTI at 4.

A bomber makes 3-8 damage, but will only roll 1-6 in MARTI, with the +2 automatically added in the game.
