I meant that I should be able to because some subs came from 97 itself. It’s a different situation.
Ok too, but only because the destroyer is out, if not I think you should not be able to retreat from a battle with it and remain there.

I didn’t have the option to retreat to sz 97, though I think I should be able to, so I edited it. If you want we can get a ruling on that.
Interesting spot. My first impression was that you cannot retreat because the seazone is not hostile for the subs anymore.
The following example: You attack a TT and a sub with 2 sub. 2 figs can scramble, they do although they cannot hit the sub. The defending sub submerges. After killing the TT tripleA ask you whether you want to retreat but you are not allowed to (I am sure about this one)
Here a real battle started due to the DD present, but afaik the subs cannot retreat when the DD is killed. But I am also not 100% sure and I think it should not be decisive for this game:)
