Lots of work in the background to catch up on as well, of all the different styles i tried, possibly i like the darker colour then dry brush with a lighter colour approach. Of course i could be a little lighter on with my shade work, think i was a little heavy handed with that. All in the course of learning the art, you’re never too old to learn and if you learn something new everyday then you’re day is not wasted… :-)  Growing old is compulsory, growing up is optional.  :-D

Awesome job on these DM! After my I get my Luftwaffe done, my German Navy, is next. It will be my first attempt on any ships. I hope I do as good of job as you did.

    Awesome quote, but true.

    Cheers!

Fantastic!  Those are incredible. I love the battleships with all the detail.

Those R/C planes look fantastic too.  That’s a very difficult hobby. I crashed so many planes I had to go back to models.  Luckily mine were small planes that didn’t cost very much although there was not much to repairing them either.  When they crashed the whole plane except the engine needed replaced.

But I didn’t learn my lesson of expensive hobbies since I started reef aquariums 10 years ago and became a coral farmer, hehe.

Cyanight, how big is your biggest tank, or is it one monstrous tank?

  • '21 '18 '17 '15

Thanks for the compliments guys, it seems that all hobbies for us big boys are expensive. Cyanight, i too had a 6’ x 2’ x2’ aquarium at one stage, had dreams of setting it up as a salt water reef but the expense back them was astronomical. I had silver sharks and angel fish in it for over 10 years, when they passed away i nearly cried, they were so big. So i haven’t got back into that hobby again, but they are beautiful when set up right…

Of Topic here… I had a 75 gallon with a pair or Maroon Clowns and lots of coral. The Clowns laid eggs and I started breeding clownfish for a year. I then sold my 75 and have about 12 tanks full or various clownfish. I then sold all of that and went back into reefing again. Now I have another Maroon Clown pair that I breed from my previous clowns and they lay eggs every 10 days. No way am I going back to that hell again, lol. They take enormous effort to breed from fry to adult. Right now I have 3 tanks…. 1 55gallon guppy tank for the kids, 30 gallon Nuvo reef and a 20 gallon Mantis tank who I call Freddy Krueger, hehe

75 Gallon Reef, My 30 gallon Nuvo looks very similar to this one but without the Tang

    Freddy

Cyanight, I have to say that is super cool to look at, and yes, he looks like a Freddy, LOL. That is a cool hobby to get into, I’m just brave enough to get into it, because I wouldn’t won’t to clean them.

I heard it is a job, but if you love it enough, I’m sure it is worth it. :-D

Very nice cyanight, John yes they are a bit of work too look after but watching them grow is really pleasing, and when you clean the tank you have good fertilizer for plants. :)

    Alas i destroyed my F-18

That is a cool Spitfire. Sorry about your other plane. Nice Mediterranean fleet. It looks ready for war. :-D

Wow, really nice work on that navy. The grey spotting/stripes on the side give some nice contrast.

    The italian merchant marine

    A flock of destroyers……

Very nice work, DM! Is the ships with the brown the lead ships?

    Just curious! :-)

  • '21 '18 '17 '15

Actually they were brownwashed instead of blackwashed, just decided to leave them like that for something a little different. Some of my paint jobs may look a bit rough when you get right up close but when you look down from tabletop level,  some of them look awesome……
