Where to find some good 18th century miniatures
-
Are there any games with nice minatures from the 18th century? Would like an infantry calvary and artillary model. The nicest peices if found were from napoleon in europe but thats the wrong period.

I’ll keep an eye open for such items.

I’d be surprised if you haven’t considered this, but the 2004 edition of Risk has some really nice 18th Century pieces.

Those look pretty nice. I just bought some peices from war age of imperialism for my game im making though already. They were selling a set for a nation for $3. Not the right period but they will do. Now all i have to do is get then on thisboard for the my first playthrough for my game tomorrow.
Sorry my picture quality is horrible.

Where did you buy them? I’ve been thinking of making a 18th/19th century A&A-style game for a while. Mine involves more of a world-wide map, with trading and colonization.

They came within 4 days of ordering. Bought about 20 boxes.

The Risk pieces are kind of small, if I remember correctly. The War: Age of Imperialism pieces (I own a set) look late-Victorian rather than 18th century, in my opinion. The “Viktory II” game has some Napoleonic-style pieces, but they might similarly be too late-looking if it’s the 18th century you’re interested in.

See my replies #22 and #23 in this thread for some cavalry photos:

Yes the war age of immperialism peices are late victory age. They will just be used as my test peices till i get some proper ones later. Ill be keeping an eye out for some.
I once though of buying the collectors minis that come in their boxes, except the peices are far too varied since they are more display then game board peices.

These are not compatible, War pieces are much larger.
Victory II is the best possible, but they don’t have different types of cavalry or infantry

If i wanted to get some napoleonic miniatures, i think i would have gone with peices from napoleon in europe. Too bad they are out of stock and the games hard to comeby. Otherwise they would have been my test peices.
However, i would rather have good 18th century minitures like these.
Sadly, there are no real good 18th century games that have quality minitures that i can use…
