your map is corrupted… can you repost? it crashes battlemap every time i try to open it.
or my version of battlemap is corrupted somehow. i will keep trying… but i can’t recreate the map since you didn’t post NCMs. :|

Apparently not, although this is the first problem I’ve had. My version is .80 alpha 1. How far behind am I? Where is latest?
And BTW… why the differences in starting placements in your alpha+3 post and the one that is referenced from Larry? There are considerable differences in the sea unit placements around England from what appears to be the original alpha+3, and the post you referred me to. Are there FAQs that address this? Or updates to the placements?
Okay… two things.
I downloaded the final map from our previous game (map A) and also downloaded your G1 map in this game (map B). Map A opens with no problem. Map B crashes the map program. I tried it on two separate installations/two separate machines. It crashed the program on both machines. ??
Per my previous question about Alpha3 setup… there are a number of differences between the setup you have on the link you sent me (http://www.axisandallies.org/forums/index.php?topic=25073.0) and the link to Larry’s setup that you reference several times in your thread (http://www.harrisgamedesign.com/phpBB3/viewtopic.php?f=40&t=6149).
For example… the entire configuration of boats in SZ’s 110, 111, 112, 113, and 114 is different in Larry’s listing. Yours is exactly as Alpha2, but his moves the two cruisers from SZ112 to SZ’s 111 and 110, and also moves the German CA, TRN from SZ113 to SZ114 - effectively moving the German cruiser out of range to engage in combat on G1 (unless you want to attack Russia).
There are a handful of others, but this is the most significant by far. I just wondered whether his alterations for Alpha3 were overridden and discarded, or if they were simply not reflected in the map. Personally, I think his changes make the typical G1 naval move a little more dicey. But then, Germany has its hands full anyway…
See if you can figure anything out on the battle map problems. It just started with your G1 map… I was having no problems before. In the meantime, here is an Alpha3 beginning map based on Larry’s setup (I think)… See if you can open this.
also tried downloading a map from another alpha3 game on these boards… it crashed my program, too. so i’ve isolated the problem to alpha3 game maps… but i’m not sure what tells me. very confused… :?
