Re: Field Marshal Games Pieces Project Discussion thread

  • @DFWSupertrooper:

Sure is quiet on here…chirp chirp…any word FMG??

Lots of word in the couple of other threads (just below the stickies too!) that people started about these pieces.  :P

  • Fmg you should have a promotion. if someone buys 3 or so sets you will send them your China set. With just infantry artillery and a flying tiger.

  • @finnman:

Although that would be cool 8-) that subtracts from the profits FMG needs to make the next set and having to take time to make the China molds will futher delay the major nations like Germany, US, Russia, and the UK.

  • but also give a boost in funds to them more orders = faster speed

Does anyone know the exact models of the FMG Italian pieces as follows:

Artillery piece?  It’s says 105mm but I can’t determine WHICH 105mm it might be.
Transport Truck?  No info on what make/model.
    Transport Ship?  What class?

I’m asking becuase I’m building these onto some custom charts, etc and would like to know.  All others were provided or have been determined.  Thanks everyone (and especially FMG)!

    Any news? :-)

    yes, you are correct.

I think I might have found the truck.  Is it possibly a Fiat 626 Heavy Truck?  Pictured here:

And the Artillery piece looks an awfully lot like this one (a Bohler 47mm Anti-Tank gun) rather than the 105mm decription?:

    Any thoughts??

I do believe you’re right on the money with both of those units.

  • This long waiting period is starting to kill my buzz. Any estimates on how much longer FMG?

I have the production samples in front of me…  If archeologists find these 1000 years from now there will still be a buzz!  I will have more information and an ETA after my next update from Factory later this week.

How long did we have to wait for the 1940 games???

  • They started playtesting the 1940 game back in 2004, so I figure we can wait one more week to get the de luxe Italian pieces

  • Thank you for for the update FMG, I did not intend to sound like an impatient person, it’s just that I’ve been itching for a while. Can’t wait, but will.  :-)

  • What do you think of these chaps on the Axis and Allies Global Map:
    http://www.fidelismodels.com/mm5/merchant.mvc?Screen=PROD&Store_Code=EM1157&Product_Code=Roco_271&Category_Code=Roco_Herpa_Figures
    From left to right:
    US General Dwight Eisenhower,
    UK Leader Winston Churchill
See a painted Churchill inspecting the troops: http://sitzkrieg.hyves.nl/album/24361140/Faces_Of_Global_War_Sitzkrieg_Edition_2009/r3hEYUxs/fotos/263862811/0/VY_Y/
    German Field Marshall Erwin Rommel
    German Fuhrer Adolf Hitler
    Soviet Leader Jozef Stalin
    Italian Duce Benito Mussolini
    German Field Marshall Hermann Goring
Free French General Charles De Gaulle
If you want to see a picture with these figures painted, just let me know. Couldn’t upload it here, because it was a bit too big.
We also found figures that represent US General George Patton (Afro-European Theater), US General Douglas MacArthur (Pacific Theater), Chinese Communist leader Mao and Odemars made a cool set of German generals containing about 14 personalities.

Concerning rules for generals, we (Sitzkrieg players) have advantages like the retreat option for defending generals (and army) and the take over option (defending units surrender) for attacking generals. Offcourse the Japanese never surrender, likewise the German elite troops. Oh…Global does not have elite troops. Well we have them!

Not only that, but we also added weather effects (with the help of Litko Aerosystems weather tokens) and lots of other cool stuff. Well you can check out the site.

One final note on the FMG Pieces Project:
It is many gamers’ dream to see a variety of historically correct quality pieces for all nations arriving on the battle boards!
The WOTC’s French and Italian miniatures are completely FUBAR!

Looking forward to your stuff in eager anticipation!!!

  • Sold out of ‘WW2 Leaders’.

And why are they so many roundels and colors for pieces?

  • Hi IL,
Just a short answer to your question, because this is kind of a bit off topic here.
Yes, the Roco world leaders are sold out on the link. I still own some spare copies of them, if any of you are really really interested… Production stopped in the seventies, because of the German leader figures that are in the set. Remember Roco is an Austrian firm?!?!?! moddeling an Adolf figure. Must have been a controverse. The set is still forbidden in Germany as is any figure of the man.
Now a short explanation on what else is on the picture:
The picture of Churchill inspecting the troops has French Infantry (AA Miniatures figure) standing on blue Chips in the back.
Next to it are 2 UK generals (AA miniatures figures).
In front of it is the regular UK infantry standing on yellow Chips (lacking tan Chips here!)
In front of the Sherman is a commando unit (1/72 commando figure) on yellow chips (meaning its British).
On the left there is a german infantry and Odemars German commander figure occupying Holland/Belgium.

Now back to topic, I like the fact that FMG is making infantry figures that look as if they are based on the 1/72 scale figures. The quality of these have considerably gone up in the last few years. Making a bigger round base is such a big improvement to either AA or the 1/72 sculpts. FMG hits HOME BASE!!!

FMG Combat Units allow me to get rid of a lot of non-matching miniatures in my Sitzkrieg game!

    One more question to Jeremy:
Could FMG start a production line of Chips in various nation colours and a smaller diameter, creating more space on the board. If the chips are even 2 mm smaller in diameter, a couple of piles next to each other would save lots of space, also keeping in mind invading armies adding up to totals of more than 1 cm on the board. … Just thinking… when I am old and grey, FMG will have apeased all my miniature dreams thus me losing my desire to wage a boardgamewar and just eyeballing the pieces like this:  :-o and

 did you see that Sparviero take down that hurricane?!?!  :| was I dreaming?

  • TripleA '12

It means, ‘did you see that Italian fighter plane shoot down that American one?’

  • Hawker Hurricane - a British Fighter.

  • Customizer

Also, the Italian fighter is the Macchi Folgore.  The Sparviero is the 3 engined Italian bomber.

  • TripleA '12

Thanks reloader-1, I knew it was a Bristish plane - I was just tired when I wrote that…

I have NEWS.  It may not be what everyone wants to hear but it is atleast a time line.  I have been informed by the factory that they will be READY in 6 weeks.  I will post a pre-order in the next couple of weeks.

The wait is almost over!  We have a deadline for completion.
