Destroyed Aircraft Carrier on Defense, plane can land where?

SZ52, an AC on defense is destroyed and has one aircraft.  Can the aircraft land on its friendly occupied island in the next seazone?

No, the aircraft has only one space to move for a safe landing.
So it can land in Wake (if Wake is friendly), on another Carrier in SZ 52 (if present) or on another Carrier in a seazone around seazone 52.
It cannot land on an Island in a seazone around as this would need two spaces to move.

Your aircraft always have the option of landing in the bottom of the ocean.

We have a house rule for this, called “Submerging” your aircraft.

Once Submerged they can’t re-emerge though.  This is called “Submerged Permanently”.

I may be mistaken but couldn’t your aircraft land on friendly mainland adjacent to the sz your ship was in.  Since it is the same movement as landing on a friendly island in the same sea zone?
