@timothy-gengarella Yes, an infantry unit is needed.
Axis & Allies Global 1940 House Rules Expansion

I can’t remember if I asked you but have you considered limiting the Hvy BBs to where they can be built ?
112 and 113 for G
101 and 10 for USA
6 for JPN -
Originally the Super Heavy Battleship units had to be produced in a Capital (USA could also produce them in sz 10).
But during play testing we experienced that the production capacity of the Capitals were already under pressure due to the multiple units that can only be produced in a Capital.
This is true especially for Germany.Nonetheless - our game experience shows that in more than 90 % of all games the Super Heavy Battleship units are produced in the sea zones mentioned above.
So, we decided to let each player decide where to produce the Super Heavy Battleship units.

Air Fleet Commander & Air Fleet:
Rules, Markers and Game Boards have been attached to the Axis & Allies Global 1940 House Rules Expansion at the top og pg. 1 in this thread.

Just checking out the Air Commander.
So Ftr Ace can be part of the Fleet but it would get no bonus rolls. Only a Ftr or a Tac would, along with the AC itself. In the rare instance of 3 Ftr Aces in the Fleet, which only Germany can do, only the AC gets a bonus roll
An AC can be on a CV, it just can’t command a Air Fleet from there. It would fight as a normal Ftr.
That right ?
Edit
So if I had AC, Ftr and 2 Tacs in the Fleet, I could designate the Tac as the bonus roll and I would have 2 A3 for the AC 2 A4 for the Tac and a normal A3 and A4 for the last Ftr and TacEdit 2
Oh the AC can’t be supporte by a Tac.Edit 3
Just saw there’s a separate thread for this. I’ll post any follow up questions there. -
Hi Captain
Was working on a triplea upgrade and I’m certain I’ve asked you this. Germany gets Italy Rail when it takes it over ?
I was just going through the rules but don’t see it. I checked the clarifications as well and it wasn’t there.
I’m almost certain they do though. I’m sure I asked you that before but I’m not gonna struggle through the search looking :)
They get the Italy rail for Europe after they take Italy over ?
They’ve been getting Italy Rail for a couple years in triplea anyway. What happened was, the USA took Rome after the takeover and that dusted the Italian Rail.
I was trying to figure out how to fix it and then now … I’m not as certain as I was :)
Thanks

Strategic Rail Movement Capacity:
Germany can use Italy’s SRM in Europe after the Take Over.
Important:
Europe includes 3 Soviet Original Territories:- Baltic States
- Eastern Poland
- Bessarabia

Hi Captain
Engineer question. Just read through the rules again and they can only remove LMs in CM when crossing that specific minefield ? Mines defending a different border than where they cross they can’t ?
And they aren’t allowed to remove any in NCM ?
Thanks
-
True - a Combat Engineer unit can only remove an enemy Mine during Combat Movement - and only an enemy Mine that defends the line which the Combat Engineer unit crosses.
This game mechanism is the same as Mines that can only defend the line on which they are dug in to defend.During Non-Combat Movement a Combat Engineer unit can transport up to 3 Mines - and place them at a border - even in a newly captured territory.

@The-Captain
Are you using D6 for the G40HRE or other dice? -
The G40 HRE game is the same as the OOB G40 game - there are no changes to the basic game or game mechanisms.
Exception:
Some basic units have reduced costs, and some islands and territories in the Pacific Ocean have increased IPC values and unit placements. So yes - the dice are the same as the OOB G40: D6
-
Yea I think having UK Pacific merged to UK with a limited place in the Pacific Theatre, speeds it up quite a bit.

yea here’s The Captains rulebook if you wanna check it out https://drive.google.com/file/d/1SRDOsOwlO4Aa13cULwkWrorrXEmCmiN-/view
You can play it on triplea if you wanna give it a try and even if you don’t, it’s fun to read through all the new cool stuff :) -

having tanks attack on a 5 on a D6 changes the game a lot. Basically every +1 on a D6 is way more powerfull. That is why a lot of combat systems uses D10 or D12 gives more flexibility to make units slightly more powerfull.
Since he had a lot of those units, infantry defending on a 4, waffen SS was good but not that good. Marines and paras attacking on a 3, they where well trained not superhuman.
So i asked if he maby also went to a D12 system, there these upgrades could be made so the units are 50% more powerfull iso making them 100% more powerfull or even 200% -

@The-Captain Done.

Hi @shadowhawk
Concerning your comments on the use of D6 for use with the G40 HRE:
- No Tank or Panzer units attack at “5”
- German Waffen-SS Panzer units attack at “4” and defend at “5”
- German Waffen-SS units defend at “4” - except Waffen-SS Panzer (“5”)
All specialized units (Historical units) that are purchasable by each Nation, are limited in numbers.
Example:
Germany can purchase a maximum of 4 Waffen-SS Panzer units.
These Waffen-SS Panzer units cannot enter game until Late 1942 (round 6).
Units lost in combat can be reproduced. The limitations to each of the specialized units are due to a combination of their Historical Timeline & Historical Production Numbers - as well as Balance of Play.
With more than 1.250 Global 1940 games completed with the G40 HRE rules, our game experience shows that no single unit (Marines, Paratrooper, Landing Craft etc.) or unit combination (Waffen-SS Army, Tank Army etc.) or rule (Soviet Red Army Conscription, Strategic Rail Movement Capacity, UK National Economy etc.) can unbalance the G40 HRE game.
The only factor that can decide the outcome of the G40 HRE game - are the decisions that are made by each Axis & Allies player.
