League Community Shared Hot-Seat game

  • I’m glad to have positive feedback,
I’m excited to see how this goes.

Any eager beaver may set up the board with the added and subtracted pieces if they would like. I guess put my e-mail tdwiegand@mchsi.com in a MARTI e-mail slot and… maybe it will take mine again for the 2nd spot? If it’s’ required and assuming no one else wants to get the e-mails. I don’t know, I’m taking suggestions.

I’m open to ideas about the starting set up, but at the same time, I don’t think it’s a big deal. Not like anyone’s invested in the outcome.

  • Thank you for initiating this type of game/test/initiative.
It will be interesting to follow.

I will take R1 if it is still available.

I suggest scramble options during G1 will be decided by UK1-player - especially now that we know UK1 will be handled by AldoRaine .

I’ve tried to set the game up as play by forum. Used that same email twice and seemed okay. Have posted a save after making the placements (and deductions).

@gamerman01 Can I just check one placement as it non-standard?

    • DD to 101

This puts a British destroyer on the East Coast of the USA and I’m worried you guys will start throwing the tea rations into Boston Harbor.

I’m happy to do G1 if it helps gets things going. I will endevour to approach this game like every other, with no thought to future moves or coordination between allied powers!

  • That would be an American destroyer to 101, actually.

US had about 70 in 1940, and Germany had about 50-60 U-boats.
I don’t want to go down the trail of trying to make it all realistic, but would be good for gameplay and give the totally uncoordinated Allies that unit. In the game, 5 German subs, 0 US destroyers… lol… and Flying tigers that support the Chinese army looool

That’s right, the idea is to not be ridiculous or irresponsible with the game, but not terribly serious either, of course.

Go ahead and do G1, and put a GREEN destroyer in 101 please

I would actually prefer to have set teams, but possibly randomly determined or determined by you to mix skill levels. We can also randomize who takes the turn.

I think it would be a great way for less experienced players to learn and discuss some possible strats with more experienced.

We could have some internal rule, that once you designate who will play the next turn, all strat discussions cease, and that player decides the specifics “on their own”. Or maybe we have discussions between complete full rounds, and then each power has at it independently, and has to adapt on their own as the round evolves.

I would foresee having an oversupply of players per team, so you never know which round you will be in, of which power you control. But you are on a set side, Axis or Allies.

Yep, I like parts of that, thanks for the brainstorming!

A pool of players for each side, more than enough for one round, and they get plugged in, not the same power every time.

We’ll see what else this first game reveals to us, probably more ideas too. I think game #1 will keep creative juices like that flowing, and we’ll all keep thinking

Picking a side and having more than 3 or 4 players per side, with occasional strat discussions is a good idea,

A difference between that, with this first trial game here, being, with no teams and no conferencing there is also no ownership or really competitiveness, which has its own advantages (less stress, less time, teammates are not disappointed with you)

Those ideas are very welcome, thank you

  • I’ll take China 1 if that’s OK

  • @simon-tressel That’s great, you got it

    ENJOY the extra men!!!

  • @gamerman01

Regarding the coordination required of the Allies vs Axis, I might argue that the Axis suffers similarly. The closest coordination is required by Italy and Germany, with Italy moves based on anticipation of Germanys subsequent move.

Whenever I’ve played over-the-board, the bid tends to be much lower than the 40-60 range, and the Allies are still quite competitive.

But will be interesting to see how this evolves. Fun concept! I’m happy to play a turn whenever needed.

  • You got J1 after Ghost does Russia,
    Unless you want US1

  • @gamerman01

Thx! J1 is done, so US1 is up whenever you find someone to jump in.

  • At a glance, it looks like those extra Chinese dropped like flies

I’ll get someone, thanks for the alert!
