Had a great time Greg, hope to make it next year.
Go Steelers :)
Yea Leo, so just to expand on The Captain’s A&A Danish Group. I can’t find his post but their Group includes:
Ex and current military, members of academia, civil engineers and businessman, as well as tradesman, historians, university students and just overall avid board gamers. :)
Anyway, point being, this thing has been crunched out hard with over a thousand games played :)
So, I hope you give it a shot when you get the chance. Of course you have the Battle of Britain coming up too :)
P out
Rock On
Sounds fun! Would love to make it. How many days do anticipate the tournament itself will last?
@buddytoliver
Hi buddy,
The Tournament is scheduled to last 3 days, from Friday 10.00 to Sunday 16.00 CET.
Players who qualify for the Final must play 3 games in total at the Tournament.
Players arrive Thursday afternoon/evening, game start Friday at 10.00 CET.
Each game lasts a maximum of 10 hours.
@The-Captain
Thanks! Haven’t been to a tournament before, but this one is very tempting. Are tournament games 1 v 1 or can people enter and play as a team?
@buddytoliver
All Tournament games are 1 vs 1.
This is also how most players are playing during training - 1 vs 1.
The World Championship 2026 A&A G40 Expansion has been updated.
See the top of this thread.
Dang, stricter requirements.
Hi everyone… 💪🏻
Really looking forward to this tournament.
Can’t wait to play against the best
@The-Captain
Sorry for so many questions, but if TripleA games do not count, how are people playing - does that just leave face to face board game play?
Hi Sloth,
Thanks for your question.
Most of those who want to qualify for the World Championship are playing both on TripleA and on game board for training.
The championship is played as a board game - face-to-face and 1 vs. 1.
The Danish Axis & Allies Association will provide board games for all players during the event, with hand-painted game pieces (see pictures from the Game Report thread).
Even though the rules are the same, playing on the game board is very different from playing on TripleA in multiple ways.
One major difference is that you have to do everything manually - and managing several hundred game pieces and playing against a highly skilled opponent is simply overhwelming if you don’t have the rutine.
When we are training new players in using G40 Expansion on the game board, the fact is that those new players do not have the same rutine and skills in overview and handling - even though they have played multiple games on TripleA.
One of our members told me about his experience on the game board vs. TripleA:
“It is not only about being a great Axis & Allies player. It is also about logistics, withdraw or attack - and ofcourse the psychological part as well when you are sitting Face-to-Face with a highly skilled opponent…”
Thank you, agree face to face games add a different dimension to play. You mention that many who are trying to qualify are playing both, but only game board games count toward the 5 victory minimum? Could those all be against the same person? (The only person I regularly play on a game board is my son.)
You can play against any other player who is also a member on this forum.
All games must be recorded at the Game Report thread on this forum with pictures and text.
I suggest that you check out Global 1940 No. 12 Game Report - this will give you an idea of how your Game Reports could look.
