I think it was more the failure to kill the Italian TT in 96. Guess that is what you meant by a horrible UK1.

Karl7 has some sage advice on Ethiopia: if it goes bad you will be sad but not attacking it will never make you sad. So it is only worthwhile if you have some bid units to improve the odds.
I think you went a bit light into 96. I worry about the Cruiser+ftr combo.

My whole UK1 was basically based on 96 not failing. Even if the transport lives, I can still move my fleet to Gibraltar.
