  • I have a question to your attack against jap trans in sz35.
    You removed your tac because there was no landing optiion.
    Is it possible to attack without landing option (Kamikaze) ?
    Could my 2 fig from Carlines attack sz63 without landing options ?
    Or did you have a landing option for your tac in sz35 ?

    Excellent question, I’m glad you asked so that you can understand and not be hurt by this in the future.

    I did have a landing option for the tac at the Philippines:

    I rammed the sub into your fleet, which is necessary to make it legal. The sub theoretically (this is specifically pointed out in A&A rulebooks) could defeat the entire fleet. If it did, then the carrier could go catch the plane. Then if the sub is unsuccessful in wiping out the fleet, the carrier is free to go wherever it wants. The plane had 100% chance of surviving, but splashes because after my sub failed, the carrier couldn’t possibly go catch it, so the carrier is free.

    You’re right that kamikazes are not allowed. You MUST demonstrate that it is POSSIBLE to pick up the far-reaching plane.

    Some players learn this lesson in a much more painful way. At least for you, your opponent had to pay for 1 transport with a sub and a tac.

  • Note that it didn’t have to be a sub… A single plane on Z42 could be used as well, because if it was successful, my carrier could catch the plane.


  • Planes from the Carolines to Z63 is legal because a carrier can go to 54. If the planes are destroyed, the carrier can go wherever it wants in noncombat.

    The rule about assuming all the attacker’s rolls are hits and all the defender’s rolls are misses (as in my Z42 attack) is necessary because without it, some arbitrary dividing line would be necessary. How much force would be required against how much force? If this doesn’t make sense let me know and I can explain more. Not that it needs explanation, because it’s specifically addressed in the rulebook.


  • Oh OK, so I think this will help you.

    If I had a big fleet in Z55, your planes on Carolines could legally attack Z63 IF you attacked Z55 with at least 1 unit. Because if your 1 unit won, a carrier could go to Z54 to pick up any surviving planes.


  • Thank you for explaining the rules I should know. Again a rule I didnt know but long time ago I did moves against the rules :blush:
    I need a long time for Japan because of the fight in sz63 with 1 sub, 4 tac and 6 fig but I dont do. With bad dice I lose my japanese Luftwaffe but over 80% to win this battle for me.
