@brookview you can also download tripleA. Its free. It could help you since you are a beginner to make sure that you dont do any wrong moves. You can use it even when you play with real boardgame. E.g. do the moves also in tripleA and check if allowed or not. If you are interesting the A&A 1941 map its called WW2 v6 1941 in tripleA.
Dice amount for combat

I have just purchased the game and haven’t played yet.
How many dice are used in combat?
One die for each individual tank/infantry/fighter/etc?
Or one die for each type of unit?The game comes with only four dice. I’m confused about how many dice to use if I’m attacking with five tanks.

It is one die per individual unit . If attacking wity more than 4, You will have to roll a few times (or buy more dice).

I was confused by the rules for a while regarding that. I thought it was each group (all units that hit a 1, all units that hit at 2) roll for all the units.
When I moved on to Global 1940 and brought that mistake with me, it led to a problem where 12 US bombers (give or take) were unable to sink a Japanese fleet of 1 aircraft carrier, 1 destroyer, 2 fighters, and 1 battleship.
I figured it out later on, and I’ve been playing correctly for a year.
