the airplanes would be fair game, and you can’t attack at the same time with the US as with the UK
on the other hand, it’s the question whether that would divert the german offensive, and if that’s your goal, it might be an idea…

RE: Game Aids A&A 1940 Global 2nd Edition
Missed one NO for Germany: +5 IPCs for Axis control of the Caucasus.
fixed
@mattsk:2.- error on NO chart- Germany "+5iPC: Germany controls Novgorod (Leningrad) "
fixed
Also, on the Chinese NO symbol, I wondered why you didn’t have the crossed swords and the little Japanese symbol on that one.
I also noticed none of your US NOs had any Axis symbols. The first and third US NO should have all three Axis symbols in them, the second and fourth should have just Japan’s symbol and the fifth should have Germany and Italy.according to the rulebook, there are no specifications about with whom the US is supposed to be at war to gain the advantage of the NO’s
1.- what paper size should i print it on?
the small charts are 1.5x A6; the two big ones are A3
@cyanight:I was using a NO chart but the problem arises when you count for all the European Axis territories for Russia. If you can see in my previous post’s photo that we use cards. I made a card for each possible territory that Russia can take. The cards seem to work better for us.
I see the problem… I’d use the grey/green/red chips in this case, but there are certainly advantes with the card system
Thanks for all the work on these. We used them at our last gaming weekend. I put magnetic paper under the charts and glued washers to a few roundels of each power.
Thank you so much for the pictures! I’m really really happy, somebody has some use for that material ;-)
@ch0senfktard:Got the Set-Ups printed out, now I have nice large, easy to read set up cards.
Beautiful, I love them, thank you so much for making them. Beats having a lame few pages of printer paper with the game set up on them by a long shot.I’m happy you enjoy them! Thanks for the comment.

RE: Best way to obtain more chips
the 1914 chips do not have the same shape as the chips in the other A&A games
(in my opinion the 1914 chips are quiet bad compared to the “normal” ones, since they don’t really stack well)HBG has actually chips in stock, just not in the original colours

RE: Bob_A_Mickelson's Complete AAP40 Charts and Aids [1st Ed.]
Is there any other Charts and/or aids out there that have been updated for 2nd edition? I’ve begun work on some of my own but they are purely functional.
As far as I know nobody but me has done any work on charts/aids for 2nd edition. I still have some minor errors to correct, but I hope they still are helpfull: http://www.axisandallies.org/forums/index.php?topic=32112.0

RE: Game Aids A&A 1940 Global 2nd Edition
hi there
“Real Life” got me, but I’m planing on correcting the errors next week (the ones knp7765 pointed out), sorry for the long break
@Tall Paul
yes, all the work is mine. But my contribution to A&A is nowhere close to what IL and others have done. Thank you for the nomination, I don’t think I deserve it  -

The chinese symbols: it correlates with how the NO is described in the rule-book, but you are actually right, it doesn’t really make sense
The US symbols: seems like I forgot those, I’ll add those as well, as soon as I get to it -
RE: Game Aids A&A 1940 Global 2nd Edition
It looks very nice :-D
i will like to get them, but first when you are fixing the setup errors.
When are you fixing it?
It looks like there are a couple of errors on your Global setup charts.
1. United Kingdom 2 Inf, your chart says 6.
2. United Kingdom 2 Fighters, your chart says 1
3. United Kingdom 1 Mech Inf, your chart says 0
4. United Kingdom 0 Artillary, your chart says 1
5. United Kingdom 0 Tac Fighters, your chart says 1
6. United Kingdom 4 AAA, your chart says 3.7. Germany 11 Inf, your chart says 3.
Everything else looked good.
thanks for pointing that out, I fixed it.
or did you find any other errors?

how about an update?

Do you plan on making a new technology chart?
I haven’t yet planned on it, but when I’m going to do a battleboard, I’ll probably to the technology chart as well. Maybe between x-mas and new year, I don’t know yet.
@Young:
Very Nice Work!
In my experience I have come to understand that game aid design and arrangement is about personal preference. Everyone has an opinion of how game aids and charts should be designed and used, that said… I think you have some really nice materials here, however, I use different methods for this stuff.
Thank you for commenting. I know about the different methods with the NOs, otherwise most of the material I saw was more or less with the same structure?
For about $8.00 I printed off all of the setup cards and the national production chart from officemax.com on high quality thick paper.
These are super nice. these would be great to print on card stock and laminate. Thank You!
I’m happy you guys like them, if you have ideas for improvement (also the graphics part, e.g. I’m not too happy with the NO-chart myself) let me know.

RE: Ambilzi & Grasshopper's 1940 Global Map (Video Added)
I have 4’x8’ of sheet metal on my office wall where I have a 6’x3’ 1942 map up (laminated, pieces magnetized) for vertical game play. Would love to have a Global Version up on the wall as well. Quick question - do you have this in photoshop where you can still remove the layers of the charts you added? I would love to print a copy with just the map and I can separately print the charts and have them off to the side on my wall. I like the “prettiness” of having just the map on the wall and the IPC chart along the bottom is the only chart I would keep. I can “delete” them myself in photoshop but it’d be nice to have the original water textures / zone lines.
you got pictures of that? I’ve been thinking about putting the game on the wall at some point in the future for quiet a time and would love to see how people have it done

RE: Combining Your A&A Editions.
I’m at the moment also considering combining the units of my games. And tackle boxes seem to be the right choice, unfortunatly I didn’t find any till now that found fitting. Does anyone use other methods for storing the combined units?

Game Aids A&A 1940 Global 2nd Edition
hi there
Finally I’ve finished the Game aids for Global 2nd Edition.
You can find the material here: http://www.mediafire.com/folder/pncar1thq9uk5/Axis_and_Allies_1940_Global_2ndset includes:
- setup and unit reference chart for each nation (with two version for Germany: one with the units original colour and one with black units [with which the unit shapes are better seen])
- Diplomacy/political Situation/whatever you wanna call them charts for each nation (including turn sequence, order of play and victory conditions)
- National Production Income chart
- National Objectives and Bonus Income chart
–-------------
-> please let me know, if you find any errors or have any suggestions for improvements and so on! I’m thankfull for critics, remarques hints for errors, etc.
-> I realized that on the Diplomacy Charts there’s still quiet some space, I might put the national objectives on those, too. But not sure yet, if anyone has a opinion, let me know.
-> Also I might add a Research and Development Chart at some point, but that might take again some time
-> And also in planning: a battleboard. I want to use different coloured dice for the different strengh groups, so there’s gonna be a neutral battleboard and a coloured one. If you would like a battleboard that fits with your dice colours, please let me know and I can do them at the same time. (The colouring itselft is no work as soon as I have the basic board done)
I want to thank Bob_A_Nickelson, 94chanuck and Minor Threat: I took the great work you guys do as reference and guiding help. Check their work out (unfortunatly none for 1940 Global 2nd Edition, but some aids for Alpha 3.9 might still be usefull even for 2nd Ed.: for example for a battleboard: http://www.axisandallies.org/forums/index.php?topic=19490.0 or http://www.axisandallies.org/forums/index.php?topic=25530.0)
I did also Game Aids for the two separate 1940 2nd Edition games, you find them here:
Game Aids 1940 Europe 2nd Edition: http://www.axisandallies.org/forums/index.php?topic=31342.0

RE: I declare this forum dead
@Frontovik:
cause of death: unbalanced gameplay
and most answers try to show how to balance the game… isn’t it a general problem? (was the same with 1940, so many changes with new Alpharules and then finally 2nd Ed., and also 1941 needed official changes, and also if you look at computergames and so on…)
How to solve the problem: don’t buy unfinished products and don’t pay to be a Beta-Tester, wait till a finished product is released (like the 1940 2nd Edition games). As long as people pay good money for unfinished products, as long will the companys save money and not pay themselves for final testing and correcting errors…

RE: New Player Setup Cards
they look really good
and I play A&A only with that kind of aiding cards, it’s something that should be part of the material in the game box
-
RE: Game Aids Europe 1940 2nd Edition
update:
-the National Production Income chart is now size A4 (and holds 104IPCs instead of 54)
-National Objectives chart graphics slightly improved (now combarable with the pazific chart)
-second german unit chart, where the units are coloured black so their shapes can be seen better)still to do: graphic improvement of the political situation charts
(and of course global) -
RE: Pazific 1940 2nd Edition Charts and Aids
uploaded a Income Chart with size A4 (for up to 104 IPCs) (A5 holds 54 IPCs)
Great charts! With everything on them, including the new (and sometimes confusing unit shapes)!
Thanks!
I’m glad you like them, if you find any errors or anything that could use some improvement, please let me know

RE: Minor Threat's Alpha+3.9 (Global 1940) COMPLETE! Setup Charts
Have been getting confused by all the variants out there, is this concurrent with the second ed. games?
no, unfortunatly not
(for that reason I’m working on 2nd Ed charts… I’ll post them some time in august) -
RE: A&A 2nd Edition IPC (& More) Log Sheet
isn’t this on the wrong board?
(people needing the sheet will probably be looking for it on the 2nd Edition Board…)
