OK, I didn’t think it through and it was a stupid post.

Thanks for pointing that out - it’s removed now.

You could stand to learn about something called “tact”, Starke.  Unless, of course, you enjoy difficult relations with people.

You apparently didn’t see this post, Starke???
I said, I didn’t really think it through, and it was a stupid post.  How often do you see someone admit that?

Why are you piling on?  Looks like you got edited twice in one post for baits!

I saw that post, but I don’t see what that has got to do with my reply afterwards.

It’s good to see that you admitted it was a stupid post, but I had already written my response by then.

With regards baits: I do not believe telling someone that an idea or thought process that is immature can seriously be considered ‘baiting’. People should take responsibility for what they say, and if they say or act immature or unsophisticated then they should be called up on it and held to account.

You’re opinion is none the less a bait. The rules state it as such. The point in a debate is to have natural discourse and to prove the points of another person wrong, not attack their character. And furthermore, this isn’t a political forum.

    GG

  • @Imperious:

Good thing he didn’t say anything bad about the french colonial influence on Haiti.

    Whew. Close call.

I don’t know, but I had some beef bourguignon yesterday and it was the BOMB.

And then for lunch #2 I had lamb & beef shwarma. Damn am I cultured!

There was no US in existence at the time, so the US couldn’t have possibly been plundered.

This was obviously a comment about geography, not political bodies.

    Hmmm.  OK.

Oh, you mean like using terminology like “steaming pile of horse sh*t”?  I’m sure most would agree that is both immature and unsophisticated.

  • Everything is just fine. just no politics.

Revised deaths now at 200,000. I think it’s worse than that Tidal wave that hit Asia.

Other than saying that I’m speechless,

    I’m speechless.

  • @gamerman01:

    @Starke:

But since you’ve already admitted that it was a stupid post we need not go on about this.

    We finally agree.

Thanks for enlightening us with your superior intellect and charm.

I’m sorry, I shouldn’t leave it like that.  If you thought I said something stupid, and you wanted to point that out to make yourself look good, that’s your prerogative.

You really should be nicer to complete strangers though, stupid or not.

Stop resorting to effeminate self-pity ethics and victimhood: if we agreed to drop this then do so, but quit with the snide quips and overzealous requirement to have the last word.

  • Back on topic. Some posts removed. And as usual do not post about this post.

  • I am glad our country is helping them over there. Just don’t bring them here.

  • They already made it clear that the Haitians already here can stay 18 more months on their visa. Talk is they may be allowed to come here, but at a minimum, the 40K Americans living there will probable come back and they may allow more to follow. Florida will get some new visitors.

  • We need to place some shore batteries in Florida.

  • Heard a news story today- apparently a group of Haitians spoke to some of the US military helping out down there asking us to take over the country, stating if that happened they wouldn’t starve and would be working. I can’t say I blame them for feeling that way. Just a bit I heard on the radio.

The Haitians would be better of if Haiti become the 52 state in the US.
But not to forget, there have been several US interests and influentials in the current Haitian government, and that has worked out very bad for the majority of Haitian citizens.

    What is the 51st state?

  • @Guerrilla:

    What is the 51st state?

LOL, I was kinda wondering, too.  I suppose he means Puerto Rico, which is definitely not a State, but a commonwealth or whatever.
There are definitely still only 50 States.

  • he means Puerto Rico yes ehhe

  • @Amon:

he means Puerto Rico yes ehhe

Oh well, I thought Hawaii was the 51 state, but it is the 50th state, I shoulda check wikipedia first…

  • I’m sorry but you have to be joking right? You can’t tell me that you didn’t know there were 50 states. Has the education system degraded that much?

I’ll bet they want to be taken over by the U.S. so they can further break our system.

  • I’m Norwegian so the US geography was not the most important thing to learn at school, most of us learn (some of)  it later in life anyway, b/c US is the most important country in the western world, and the most interesting one to follow news and such, so for many outside the US (especially in Europe), it is generally the country we know most of, except for our own country. And all the films and TV series from the US contributes a lot.

But I think the reason why I was wrong on the actual number of states, is that, at least here in Norway, and probably in other European countries too, we tend to say that this or that country is the 51 state, b/c we (or other countries and politicians) follow and/or support the US foreign policy automatically instead of deciding our own foreign policy. And this issue is not necessarily related to the fact that we have many different opinions of the US foreign policy.
