Right. Just to clarify, your destroyers and combined fleet can happily sail right past enemy subs and transports. You need to spend 8 IPC on a destroyer to use it as a speed bump. Even then, you can destroy the blocking destroyer with air and a sub maybe, then non-combat move past that contested sea-zone leaving behind only the sub and the attacking air units non-combat move to where the fleet will end up. It gets even harder to slow down a multi-national fleet, your ally clears the blocker then you can move 2 spaces and do combat before a new blocker can be placed, unless the defender was also multi-national….
Game Map ( an alternative )

I’ll reupload them on Mediafire when I’m back home. Hold on.

Can you get this in a one piece file? I print them out in one sheet.
Nice work and interpretation of my work.

Unfortunately not. I started with Illustrator and got the 1-file map above. I found no good way (i.e. my Illustrator abilities are limited ) to use a bitmap pattern ( water and sand ) without the repetition of the pattern being too obvious.
So I created a multipage PDF in Illustrator and opened each page in Photoshop. There I added Layers for the water and the ground. Therefore the deluxe map exists just as multiple PDF files. Maybe you can tell me how to do convincing patterns in Illustrator and I can try to create a one file map.
But it must be a hell of a printer that can print out 140cm x 70 cm !Two remarks :
- I just realized that there should be “Western Europe” instead of “France” on the map. It’s called Western Europe on the setup card, so don’t be surprised if you can’t find it under that name on the map.
- Here is the corresponding deluxe setup card PDF : http://www.mediafire.com/file/zooddgijnmj/SetupDeluxe.pdf

I’ve also created an Alternate Game Map for Revised/1942 - if anyone is interested in it, I can upload it anywhere to share (jpeg about 80mb, tiff about 400mb).
Note that the printet Markers in each area are exactly as big as the gamepieces are - so if you put a marker on it fits perfect.
Thx for your comments

Hey thats nice. I am not fond of the black oceans, but it is good work.

Looks like you spent a lot of time and it will hopefully find its audience. To be honest I don’t like that dark waters ( reminds me of the dark Revised map ) and I’m not too convinced of that many different fonts.

Thank you thank you thank you, Imperious Leader.
I recently purchased 1942 after playing years of 1984 Gamemaster version. I Love the gameplay of 42, the units, the dynamics, etc… The no paper IPC thing is not a major deal, I dont care about the battle strip as opposed to a full battleboard, but my bigest problem was a cramped map. I downloaded Iperious Leader’s map file, did a quick cheap print on some card stock and am very happy. It improves my enjoyment of the game 10 fold! I didn’t do a full size printout, as it wouldn’t fit on the table I commonly use, but the size I printed is perfect for me. Everyone have fun and keep on battln.

That looks fine. I suspect you didn’t want to shell out $250 for AA50 and just bought AA42 and used the pieces and printed my map from your computer?
I see you made a smaller print then the original file?
And downloaded the rules for AA50?
So you got AA50 for the cost of AA42.
Bravo!

Exactly! The picture I posted really doesnt do it justice. The angle I took the pic at makes the paste lines from my 8 1/2 x 11 sheets really show up, when in actuality you really dont notice them from a normal game play angle. Gives me that 250.00 gameplay experience for well under 40.00 total. THANKS AGAIN

First post here.
I downloaded the PDF for the AA50 map. I printed it to scale on a large format drafting plotter and it came out 80"x36". Is this the real size of the actual game board in the Anniversary edition of AA?
Where can I find the rules and setup charts for AA50 online? I figure I should be all set as I’ve got all the game pieces I need. I have AA42, D-Day, and the older versions of AA Europe and AA Pacific as well as the early 2000’s issue of AA and the original AA from 1984. Got the pieces covered I think.
Any help with the additional stuff I need to get off the ground with AA50 would be greatly appreciated. Thanks much in advance.

I have an AA50 for sale. It has been played a few times but is still in excellent condition. If anyone is interested send me a message with an offer and the highest offer by 02/05/10 will get it along with the full set of Combat Dice from FMG. I also have a copy of 2nd edition, Revised, Europe, the original Pacific game, and Battle of the Bulge available for sale. Message me on those as well. I am keeping AAP40 and AA42. Thanks.

I have to agree, oceans too Dark and the ribbons with values are too long.
But very nice work! -

I’m really interested in doing this.
I need to find a good printing place for something this big. I would want to print it the exact size of the actual board and place the new one over it and cut along the fold lines so it goes into the box the same way. Must research more.
Great looking files. Probably diggin the IL or the Deluxe, a toss up between them right now.

I don’t want to be a gravedigger of dead threads but today I saw a link to a site where someone put together all AA Maps to download and print them on your own.
I saw that he listed two of my old AA1942 maps so I thought it would be nice if that someone ( seems like he is Italian ) got the newest version of the map.So here is AA1942 Deluxe Map
http://www.filesonic.com/file/2518982501/AA1942_DeluxeMap_v1_04+.pdfThis time it’s a one file PDF which should be no problem because the newest Adobe Reader has an option to print it on several pages.
Enjoy. -

Hello. And Bye.

Thank you!! I understand noone has posted here for 4 years but i’ve looked everywhere for an alternative to a big map on several occasions and i finally found it here. So thank you! Bambam77 if you still have that large image of your map i’d love to make it. I think it’s a work of art however your previous post didn’t have all of the links?
