Great map, I will be printing one of these myself.

  • Hey ive been a forum browser for some time now, but i figure to post my experience here too. I bought the map off that site a few months back. Boy is it HUGE lol. I love it, there is so much room to play on it now. But being so big, rolling up was a challenge as the paper would want to crinkle and all. And it just was missing that certain extra thing……lamination. So i went over to Kinkos and got it laminated for about $35. Its now 100% better. I love it! I even suggested to the guy at that site who sells this map to offer lamination, it offers world of difference and i would of paid for it to be laminated had it been offered. Overall good stuff.

  • I thought the map came laminated when you ordered it off their site??

Considering the price is $35 I doubt it…

  • Then what was Francis Marion and Imperious Leader talking about earlier in this thread???

  • If you buy the map from the site…its laminated… thats the only thing i posted.

I also downloaded the map from Bionic Donkey.  Like General Steiner, I live in Australia so I decided to get it printed here instead of having Bionic Donkey ship it over.

I got it printed on 5mm PVC with a matt laminate.  The PVC is pretty flexible so it adapts if you have an uneven surface (for instance, if you had to put two tables together to have enough room for the board).  The matt finish is to diffuse any glare on the board coming from over head lights (I have many over head lights downstairs where the board is set up).

The best thing about this board (other than the size) is that it has the unit placement marked on the board which makes it so much faster to setup.  And I must say that playing on this board for a couple of months warps your perception of the original board.  I look at that board and wonder how I managed to fit all the units in those little territories before.  This big board is a luxury, and I’m spoiled.

  • That matt laminated finish is really nice. I noticed also you did yours with a border, very cool. I didn’t do the border, because as you can see with my table any wider and it would not have fit. Playing on the larger board is definitely superior to the old smaller one, so much so that I would have to say that it adds to the gameplay experience. It appears us Aussies have a taste for the finer things in life, haha.

  • Wow!  That board is incredible!  I can’t wait to get my hands on one…

  • Sime,

    Thanks for the pics.

  • You know, the only reason I would hesitate buying this map is that the Anniversary Edition is coming out in October.  I’m just thinking that once I play the AE I won’t go back to Revised.  I wonder if/when Bionic Donkey would have an enlarged AE map??

  • CPT Jack,

that has been the issue I have been dealing with.  After seeing what these guys are paying for this map I think I might be better off waiting the 14 weeks.

I have several blown up maps that I never play on, I have original, world at war (zeno), Revised and a couple I modified myself.  I don’t use them I do loan them to members of my group, but I wouldn’t get rid of them.

  • Has anyone from the US ordered one of these maps?  I am interested to know how long it took to receive the map.  Thanks.

  • :-)
I’m currently working on a large, (3’ by 4 1/2’) Rand Mc Nalley actual world map.
Europe is small compared to AA maps but I plan to use Army Boxes for most of the small Islands and territories anyway, putting a flag with the army # in the territory. If players agree, the territory boxes can be covered with an actual box to conceal the troops that are in that army, until it is attacked! That should get some palms sweating again.
Actually, this game will be more on the lines of a Big World game, pretty much a one-of-a-kind game using AA and other figures, and the rules for AAR as well as some home rules.
Until I get the map finalised I won’t post any pics.
As far as other big maps, I’ll wait to see the new game before I decide on buying anything.

  • Hey guys, I plan on pre-ordering Triple A, but I’d like a larger AAR board, but when I try to find this site it’s a 404. Can anyone direct me to where the file can be downloaded, or can someone mirror it for me? We have a print ship located on campus that should be able to print and laminate one for me.

    Any help is appreciated.
