kosh could kill every single member on that poll before they could even fight back.  how’s that for who should be #1 marine.  the guy with the bigger guns makes the rules.  or the guy who could kill the entire babylon 5 cast in about 2 seconds.

  • I think that i would have to vote for Zathras, not to be confused with Zath’ras or Z’athras…

“Zathras have very sad life.  Probably have very sad death.  At least there is symmetry.”

Garibaldi was about as close to being the core of the show though as you can get, having been the only human there for the whole run.

true. he was the only one.  wait, what about the doctor?

  • There was a different doc for the pilot movie, then franklin came, and I think you are right, he was around the rest of the time.  Maybe he took off in the 5th season, i forget…

I wonder how much different the series would have been if Ivanova had stayed till the end…

    favorite episodes anyone?

and did you like the show more with the first captain or the second captain?  and more in depth, did you like the show more at the beggining of its showings or more toward the end of its run.Â

i like the build up to the shadow vs. vorlon wars.   and i have to disagree jen, the vorlons were way more hardcore than the shadows.

I absolutely loved this show the first three seasons.  I would literally race home from work to make sure I made it home in time.  I even had a buddy tape episodes when I was out of town so I wouldn’t miss anything.  Then, they had that ridiculous episode where the Vorlons and Shadows just “went away” and the show lost it for me right there.  Three years of build up only to have The Biggest Anti-Climax in Sci-Fi History!  (Although it was kind of cool to see the Vorlons “go postal” there for a while).  I loved all the characters, but Londo was my personal favorite.  G’Kar was equally well-acted, but I just liked Londo better.  His sadistic pleasure at others’ misery was appealing in an anti-hero kind of way.

So anyone hear what Stryzinski is up to these days?

  • 2007 AAR League

I don’t have a favorite episode, but the show had some great sub-plots.  The interaction between G’kar and Londo was great especially when G’kar “gets religion” and becomes Londo’s body guard, what sweet Irony.

The struggle between Babylon 5 and Psi Corp made for some good episodes…the whole “plans within plans” thing.

I also liked the internal Mimbari power struggle leading to deleen’s disolving of the grey council.

And of course the overall plot of Good vs Evil was well constructed. I too was a little disapointed with the climactic battle, but any other outcome would have been just as dissapointing.  I think the writers wrote themselves into a corner on that one.

I realized the same about DS9 when it went on reruns on SPIKE.  They basically copied B5 episode for episode but a season or two later.  They did eventually get more seasons in the end, but only because Stranzinsky had scripted teh series to end with Sheridan being President.  He wanted to quit after that, but Turner Television bought the rights and talked him into another season AND a spin-off, both of which flopped because Stranzisky was basically flying by the seat of his pants and not from a major script with scheduled major events like he did for Seasons 1-4.

I had heard or read somewhere that Straczynski (I checked the spelling on the Warner Bros. site) had the story plotted out for seven seasons and that season 4 (the last season I saw) was supposed to be the mid-point.  That is apparently wrong, because only 5 seasons got made and I’m sure he could have gotten two more made if he chose to.  Anyway, there is some good stuff on the Warner Bros. website, for what it’s worth. http://www2.warnerbros.com/babylon5/home.html.  Also, found this fan site.  http://www.midwinter.com/lurk/lurker.html  Enjoy!

which ships were the coolest?  i still think the american-membarii-vorlon technology ship that went into the 3rd movie i think was the most badass.

i hated the drasi ships and the circular flying disc ships used by another alien race.  they just sucked.  i think i liked the humans the best, their ships just looked like a ship should.  not all fancy.

The Shadow vessels were by far the bad asses.  Who’s not intimidated by a huge black spider that can destroy a planet.

Strength wise, the Shadowships were best.  Appearance wise, I think it’s a toss up between the Narn and the White Stars.

  • I would vote for the ancients that hung around…  A big spider scary yes, a giant tiki head that glows when it transmits communications, Awesome!

If you didn’t know about the ancients, that might make you think you’ve been using too many stims.
