Thanks for the support!
And now to piss eveyone off

Well actually Nixon had alot of potential, and he could have been a great president, but the whole watergate thing hurt him just a tad.

@M36:

no even without watergate. i still don’t like him.
-
@M36:
Eisenhower? My God what are you smoking Jen?
Teddy? Well he screwed other countries up, especially Spain, but wrong again!
W? Everybody knows W kicks a**, and its the dumbasses in Congress who have screwed things up.
Jesus Jen, get with the picture!
Apparently you see Jennifer’s lack of skills in making lists. I hope she doesn’t make the grocery lists too. :-o
-
sorry to get everybody off topic, this was about christmas. so we should move christmas to march or april when we actually have snow. remember white christmas. i’m in detroit 10 days before christmas and it’s 50 degrees, yae global warming doesn’t exist.
w kicks a**. are you kidding me. start a thread to list his accomplishments. don’t leave out pushing his religion into our constitution, or tax cuts during war time, or sitting on his hands for 2 weeks while people were dying in new orleans. just to list a few.
-
@ncscswitch:
Switch has simply seen contrary evidence that blast the snot out of the hypothesis of man-made Global Warming.
Facts are an amazing thing, and the Global Warming hypothesis fails to stand up to them.
Except the facts you are purporting are hypotheses as well. :-P It’s just a matter of what the individual believes. And I’m with mojo that 60 degree weather in mid-December is highly unusual. But not for the past couple of years…
Nixon was a smart guy. That was his strength & partly his downfall. He was too paranoid of other people, and had a god complex. Watergate was probably the tip of the iceberg for what he did/would have done.
And about W. I don’t really understand Jenn’s assessment. If she is knocking Dems with her list (which it looks that way), why would W. be where she lists him if she has been insisting lately that he is actually a Dem himself?
-
I am just using the very same ice core temp records as teh global warming folks, except I am using the WHOLE scale from the Valdivostok core, not just the top couple of feet :-P
-
Well speaking of warming, its 60 degrees in my hometown of Winsted Connecticut. Good argument for global warming right there.
-
It’s rather humorous, I put W on the list and all the Republicans blast me, but I also put FDR on the list so all the Liberals aer blasting me. Believe it or not, I just look at what came out of their presidency, not just what they did IN office.
Let’s go in order:
Taft - Other then being the only United States President to hold political office after his Presidency as a Supreme Court Justice, he was a drunkard, he split the Republican Party getting us Wilson and was a progressive - a sin that is unforgivable to any true capitalist.
T. Roosevelt - Started the progressive party. Put America on the road of Imperialism. His policies were used by later presidents to cripple the public free market, head us toward socialism and over inflate the government so far that none of our founding fathers would recognize anything more then mere titles of office.
F. Roosevelt - The biggest crook in the history of the United States, even his mother would not go along with his sanctioned theft of monies by the US Government. FDR’s programs permanently put a barrier between the American people and the creation of independant wealth. It is because of FDR that social class permeability is all but unachievable for the vast majority of people. This means that the rich will remain rich forever and the poor will remain poor forever.
Eisenhower - Prosecuted the Cold War which lead to the Middle East siding with the USSR, the deaths of tens of thousands of Americans in Korea - a war that is still raging today, led to the creation of the Anti-Israel League.
Truman - Oh my Gawd did he screw us up! He CAUSED the cold war, almost single handedly….Stalin helped a little. Instead of letting Stalin rant, as was his want, and then negotiating like adults, Truman ranted back, causing tensions that caused the cold war until Reagan destroyed it with the help by the Russian Premier in the 1980s.
McKinnley - Though he was eventually stopped by a patriot’s gun, this man almost prevented the United States from recovering from the 1893 depression because he opposed the silver standard for currency and inacted the highest tarriffs on foreign goods ever seen by this nation, yes that includes today.
Carter - Couldn’t defend the nation, let alone himself from a wee little bunny wabbit.
Clinton - Blew up hospitals and nunneries in an adept to divert attention from his illegal FBI file gathering, black mail, defrauding of senior citizens, sexual harrasment and lies to the American people. Gave ICBM technology to the Chinese as a thank you for illegal campaign donations for his first and second term of office. Gave China preferred trading partner, driving what was left of American manufacturing out of the nation. Created NAFTA which drove what was left of American labor out of the nation. Attempted to institute a communist style health care program. Guarenteed student loans which in turn raised college tuitions across the country by over 35% Raised taxes on the population mildly, but almost doubled the taxes on small and medium businesses crippling the creation of new jobs which lead to the second Great Depression which occurred before Bill Clinton left office. Finally, he convinced the young girls across this nation that oral sex wasn’t sex, heavy petting isn’t sex and that murdering unborn children is okay. This lead to the spread of Venerial Disease (or as it is called now, STDs) rampantly through the nation, as you CAN contract VD through sexual acts taht are not intercourse.
W. - While his foreign policies are great, his domestic policies are sheer lunacy. We have the Patriot Act, the Homeland Security, the over inflation of domestic government, the lack of ability to stand up to the Senate or the House regardless of who is in control. This man can hardly be considerred an Energetic Executive, which is what a President is supposed to be.
Sr. - Even though he spoke for the American people when he vomitted on the Japanese leader in the 1990s. He failed to finish Iraq in 1992. He further failed to restore the government to profitability that Reagan gave us after the 1980s. Fortunatily, his failures resulted in him loosing his office. Unfortunately, the American people did not realize the demon we were replacing him with.
Nixon - Do I really need to get into it? Illegal wire taps. Illegal taping of conversations. Illegal pulling of FBI files (just Like Bill Clinton did later).
Kennedy - Almost destroyed the world. He’d have been higher on the list, but he only ALMOST destroyed the world with regards to the Bay of Pigs and the Cuban Missile Crisis. Probably assassinated for the good of the nation by his Vice President, the Speaker of the House and a pair of CIA snipers.
Johnson - Basically a do nothing guy, but he did further open the door between TDR’s socialist programs and FDR’s eventual crucifixtion of the free market through his totally ineffective New Deal.
-
you tell em jenn !!! ya i love it. but W’s foreign policies are great :? he attacked the wrong country what ever happend to the guy who actually attacked us on 9-11. what ever happend to we will make no distinction between terriosists and those harboring them. it’s looks like pakistan is harboring him so lets go get him. oh no we can’t because they are our allies :?
-
Taft: he is responsible for 90 antitrust laws, the 16th amendment, dollar diplomacy and tried to spread world peace. those were all horrible things(sarcasm)
TR: he was the leader of progressism. help make food safe to eat, he busted up trusts.he solved the coal strike and his foreign policy was great.
FDR: the new deal gave hope to the people and prevented a further depression. allot of his programs still exist he put us in WWII, he prevented china, France, england(including its colonies),and RUSSIA from falling into fascist hands. we would have been fighting the war in America instead of germany if he didn’t change policy. he may not have done much for Japanese citizens but allot of his programs hired blacks, Jews and catholics when others would not.
Eisenhower: he created the high way system he supported Brown V Board and intergrated the DC schools. what about SEATO and wining the Korean war. he stopped Iran and the republic of Congo from becoming communistic he used nuclear weapons as a deterrent against the USSR. he actually tried to stabilize the middle east
Truman: the fair deal. the Truman doctrine and the marshal plan all helped to stop communsism from spreading, PEACEFULLY, he made Taiwan democratic, and sent help in Korea and Vietnam. he used a nuclear bomb on japan that prevented 300,000 Americans soldiers from dieing to invade japan. without that act there would be no cold war it would have been WW III. he also intregrated the army.
McKinley: he was an average president. he didn’t do any thing much except create a war that we won easily and conquered a bunch of islands.
Carter: he had okay domestic pollices but except for Camp David his forgin policy was a failure. s o he was an average president some bad some good
Clinton: the family leave act of 1993,allowed gays in the military,Earned income tax credit, wiped out national deficit, and NAFTA
W: like father like son
SR.: he was bad
Nixon : he was bad too
Kennedy: he stopped communism from spreading to the Americas. stopped nuclear testing, created peace corps,Civil rights act of 64, if wasn’t killed Vietnam would have been a democracy and the new frontier would have been implemented
Johnson:domestic pollices really good but was horrible in Vietnam
-
Gee, Cyan, why not just say “I’m a democrat and all Republicans are evil.” I try to take a non-partisan look at things.
Yes, all these guys actually got a few good things out of their administration.
TDR implemented health inspectors - though those inspectors were primarily corrupt because they were employees of the food conglomerates, but let’s just forget about that, eh? He also created the national park reserves.
As far as FDR’s new deal, it did nothing. It was underfunded at best. It was not retroactive. Basically, we were already in the worst possible situation we were ever going to be in, even without the new deal, we were going uphill from that point on anyway. The new deal was just a scam to bilk the people out of what little money they did have left to prop up the democratic bourgousie which is why FDR’s own mother refused (and was almost jailed for) to pay the new taxes. She was saved by her son who paid the bill quietly behind her back. Not to mention, FDR was married to his cousin. Go figure, if your family tree looks like a telephone pole, you might be a redneck or a Roosevelt!
Taft did nothing but continue TDR’s anti-trust policies and get incredibly drunk all the time. He’s also known as the largest (read fatest) President in American History…guess that’s an achievement too.
The Truman doctrin and marshal plan, along with NSC 68 CAUSED the Cold War. What do you mean stopped it from spreading? Uhm, Cuba? Nicoragua? Korea? China? We saw a massive spread of communism during the Truman and Eisenhower years. Nearly half the world geographically and over half the world population wise was either a communist nation or allied primarily with communist nations. You know, that whole Warsaw Pact thing?
Clinton: Gee, he permantized a family leave act that was already on the books but about to sunset. Whoopitty do dah. He did allow gays into the military, though saying that’s good or bad is still a hotly debated topic. Earned income tax credit is basically a child deduction, we’ve had those for decades. He did not wipe out national debt, we had trillions in debt the day he left office, his projections were that we would have zero debt in 20 years if we put 0 dollars into the united states armed services and there was no inflation. However, he did make it impossible to get a college education without going massively in debt, made it impossible to bankrupt out of debt, made it so bad on doctors that we have negative growth in the medical fields because it’s so easy to sue doctors now, he did legalize the murder of helpless children, and saw the largest spread of aids in the history of the nation. That, and he blew up a hospital and a nunnery!
Kennedy did not stop communism from spreading to the Americas. He guarenteed that there would be a communist state 70 miles off the coast of the United States permanently by promising the Soviets that we would NEVER invade Cuba and we would NEVER sanction the removal of Fidel Castro.

someone STILL has trouble differentiating between “deficit” and “debt” . . . .

Evidently the same person who thinks it would be a good idea to invade Cuba.
EEEEEEEEE
Good lord Jen - this is up there with the stupidest things to come out of your computer. -
ooh, i ain’t find anything wroung with there policies so i’m just going to talk about irrelvent stuff. who cares who a drunk if you can do your job well then you can declare sex is only when you get pregent(or get some one pregnet) for all i care. if the new deal was s o horrible why do we still have the programs? i don’t htink many europeons you lived in the 50’s would agree with you on the truman doctorine. what to you think whould have happened to grece, itlay and germany if we just stayed out of it? your defintion of starting the cold war is doing something about it before you get nuked be communist Canada or Mexico. Can you show me how kennedy ensured cuba becoming a commi? you can also be the fattest president. well if you put good republicans on you list i would have said something. but the only rebuplican syou put on were really bad. nixon, and the 2 bushs.
-
I didn’t say it was a good idea to invade Cuba. I’m the one calling for a full extraction of all US Soldiers and military assets from every stupid country on the planet, including Canada (where we have military advisors and liason officers) as well as Haiti, Rwanda, Coratia, Czeck Republic, S. Korea, Japan, Germany, Kuwait, Suadia Arabia, IEA, Egypt (Advisors), etc.
I MIGHT let you talk me into keeping a pressense in Israel. They’ve been our staunchest supporters in the middle east since we sponsored their creation in the UN and have actually given back to us in our alliance, unlike some nations. I might also allow you to talk me into allowing military advisors to stay in England, seeings as they’re our aging fatherland (though I think we might need to put them in a home…)
Also, i don’t advocate the invasion of Canada. I joke that they’re about to invade us, if only to stop our party so they can get a good night’s rest! (old joke about Canada being an apartment over a really good party…) But that’s only because somnething like 79% of your population is massed on our northern boarder…
-
you missunderstood me. i said you wanted to wait untll canda beace communist and tries to nuke us or invade us.

sorry - i got confused when you bitched about Kennedy not allowing for an invasion of Cuba when you said:
Kennedy did not stop communism from spreading to the Americas. He guarenteed that there would be a communist state 70 miles off the coast of the United States permanently by promising the Soviets that we would NEVER invade Cuba and we would NEVER sanction the removal of Fidel Castro.
-
After the Spanish American war the United States required Cuba to allow the United States to intervene militarily in the interests of America in return for us not making them a Colony. Kennedy gave that right of America away in his massive concessions to Russia. We would have been far better off just letting them keep the missiles there.
That’s what I was getting at. I don’t want to invade Cuba. But now it would be kinda nice to be able to send in troops, help Castro restore order and lock up criminals, and return Cuba to the vacation paradise it was after WWII.
