Sea unit non combat move into SZ with hostiles

@RYNO87 Sea units can never attack territories containing whatever defending units.

In other editions battleships and cruisers under special conditions can support amphibious assaults by shore bombardment, but not in this game.

@Iisded If G has its forces placed to keep the R stack in WR, as it should, then trading Karelia, Ukraine and Caucasus. At some point G will capture Karelia in sufficient strength to hold it, but that is not the death-knell for R. Then R must block Archangel every turn to stop any tanks in Karelia reaching Moscow.

If G (or J) manage to hold Caucasus and start to build there, then the writing is probably on the wall for Moscow.

So my R stack will stay in WR unless any of the following happens:

Against a poor G player R will gradually gain a sufficient advantage to start to use its mobile units (supported by sufficient infantry) to kill off any smaller invading forces without those mobile units then being at risk.

But these moves are what I do against my opponents. I taught all of them to play so their moves are constrained by my guidance. I do not want to pretend that this covers every eventuality that other opponents might present.

Each air unit that moves in the Combat Move phase must generally reserve
part of its Move value for the Noncombat Move phase, when it must return
to a safe landing place using its remaining movement. See page 23 for
examples.
An air unit’s movement in any complete turn is limited to its total Move
value. For example, a bomber has Move 6, but it cannot move 6 spaces to
end its movement in a hostile space. It must save enough movement points
to get to a friendly territory where it can land. A fighter can move up to its
full Move value of 4 to attack in a sea zone, but only if a carrier could be
there for it to land on by the end of the Mobilize New Units phase.

For which power? I tend to do an air buy for the British in India (I know most prefer an air buy an place it in England) to keep the Japanese at bay, also abandon Australia and move the infantry over to India. America  an “shuck” fighters over to Australia if the Japanese don’t take it on turn one and the British place an inf there round 2. Russia, if you’re playing with the revised set up, can usually afford to launch a massive attack on West Russia and do a round of combat or two against Ukraine before falling back on the Caucus. Pull the far east units back slowly towards Moscow, if you see the opportunity you can use these units to launch a counter attack against the Japanese if they ever occupy China.

As for the Axis…kill everything in your path  :-P…but I do consider an attak against British Eygpt to be vital to the Axis on R1.
