never say never in the world of Axis and Allies.  I’m pretty sure I’ve found a way, but as stated, has enough drawbacks of its own.  I could show you in a friendly game.  8-)

Instead of hitting both z110 and z111, Germany might choose to go for just z110 and sink the French fleet and Yugoslavia.  Look at the med if Germany hits z106, z91, z93, z110 and puts off sinking the z111 crowd til G2 (with 3 subs, cruiser, carrier, planes).  It almost forces UK to do Taranto.  z92 is no safe spot without the French fleet and not enough blockers to prevent a landing in Transjordan. If they hit Taranto the Germans will scramble to save the Italian planes, then Italy counterattacks and might just get NOs for no allied ships in the med and South France/Greece/Gibraltar on the very first turn.

The key to this approach is a G1 build of 1 carrier, 2 subs, save $2.  Don’t use artillery in yugoslavia.  Earn $68 and you will have $70 in hand to build 10 transports if sealion looks good after taranto.

Strategy should be simple: send every units possible to London, dont try anything fishy ;)
And send Australian fighters to India. (possible russians fighters if that will make the big difference)

And buy some art if you expect germany going to Scotland, when they do you hit them hard for a round or 2 (but dont win, just do damage)

all units London and surrounding sz, kill German navy, reinforce India with a few Russians, save Africa, and use the Anzac as effectively as possible.

I’ve sunk many an allied navy, at minimal loss, by popping a few Italian subs on the board, and blasting the allies for a round with sub/air attacks - through the straight.  Then following up with the GERMANS :P

But the door swings both ways…

100% agree w/you. I often buy both Italian, and German subs (S France, and/or Normandy) to set them back. You have to either kill their ground units so the are delayed, or destroy their fleet stranding their ground units to kill later. Once they get in the Med its a ruff road (or sea lane I guess).
