But only if you stay in windowed mode. If you stretch it back out and then re-shrink it, the line with the post location drops down (see my last screenshot for how that looks). If you knew how to make the line drop down, without needing to stretch and shrink the screen, you would be golden. Assuming the software let’s you do that…

You need alot more posts before you can do that. Otherwise PM me and i can post for you in the mean time.

You also need to understand that in my day job I’m a software engineer (programmer) and I build scalable websites. It takes a lot of work to do it right. phpBB and SMF work but it does mean they were built right. Not to say those programmers are bad but I doubt anybody who originally worked on phpBB and SMF would ever code something in that same manner ever again. The codebase intertwines the data models, the views, and has no templating system. The code is spaghetti and my eyes bleed whenever I have to read it.

I’ve avoided building my own forum in the past because I know how much work it will be. Enough of that, if nobody else will do it right, then I’ll do it.

VanillaForums comes the closest and has a much cleaner codebase but there are many things that I would still have to implement to run Vanilla.

If I upgrade, it will break everything. The next upgrade will be a migration to new forum software, which I will be writing myself because the current state of the forum-world is horrendous. If we don’t evolve, everybody will migrate to Quora and StackExchange.

I’m not too familiar with the SMF system but you should be able to upgrade without breaking links. With phpBB you upgrade the forum not the data. the data is in a separate dbase and is a slave to the forum software. In the beginning at the Underground we were spammed to death so I added a simple security question to the registration process and we haven’t had even one spammer in a year. The question is simple but bots don’t know the answer. “What war does the game cover?” Any doh-head knows the answer, but bots don’t. I honestly have few issues with the phpBB software.

I run off a laptop all the time.  A 90 watt power supply uses significantly less power than a 600 watt power supply, especially if you leave your machine on 24/7 like I do. (Yes, I know, the damage from power up/power down is no longer significant like it was in the late 80’s and the old 8086 processors (80386 DX, 80486, etc)).

There is a lot of construction going on in my neighborhood atm.  The home owner’s association decided to reside and reroof all the units, so as you can imagine, the air is about as polluted as the air in Bejing China atm!

The system fan (that would be the big fan in the unit, not the heat sink/fan on the processor) got clogged with debris and the brushes (the things that make the fan blades move) wore out so the fan does not blow anymore.  Thus, the system builds up heat (despite the external cooling pad I had under it) and shuts down to prevent damage to the processor.

The unit is under warranty still, but since it is a laptop, they cannot just send me a fan to pop in there.  They have to remove the hard drives and RAM and put them into a completely new enclosure (yay me) which of course means a complete format and reload of the software (yay me again) before they can send it back.

So that’s what’s goin on.  (Yay me.)  So I get to sit in a library and try to get posts in every so often (yay me) but I have not disappeared!

I have canceled all my competition games at AAMC because there are time limits and new rounds of the tourney have to start, etc.  I’m confident that league games I have here will be fine to continue, since we technically have until at least December 1st to complete or get close to completion for the year.

I do ask that if it has been a few days (ie a week) and I have not posted, or you see I posted somewhere but not in your game, you bump it because by the time I get back, there are 13+ pages of new posts to go through and I sometimes miss games.
