I agree, no 3 vs 1 player. As far as I know I think ABH has not hinted on anything on what I should do, he was not agreeing with the manchuria thing but that is all. He has said he thinks it is not over. Which I think is fair. It also looks like other players agree with him and that encourages me to try a little longer

I have been careful to avoid giving any advice to either side, just occasionally giving a few tips over old moves that are already played out for a couple of rounds. Normally I wouldn’t be doing that except for all of the attention that both of you brought to the Forum with oysteilo trying to prove that the Axis can easily win a standard game and ShadowHAwk trying to maintain that the game is actually balanced (sorry, even if you beat a bad Axis player that still doesn’t mean that the game is balanced for good players).
It irks me to see people who think that the game is balanced because they usually demand to play the Axis in our F2F gaming group and yet refuse to give the Allies a bid. I think that I would have a good shot of winning against ShadowHAwk with a +40 Allies bid, and many of the top League players would have a good shot of winning even with a +60 bid although at that point they might have to play very cautiously until a big mistake was made.

Sure, no problem about 40 bid. Standard rules of 1 unit per territory, must already have units of that country in that territory, and only infantry or artillery allowed for China.
Time to sharpen up your Axis skills, Oysteilo. You really shouldn’t be pushed around in the Pacific with so little US money going to that side of the board.
Whit giving a bid of 40 IPC, ABH shows balls, that’s for sure. I am very excited!

Now that the moves have been made and these tactics can no longer be used on subsequent turns, I will comment on what Colt45 and I thought should have been done.
The Axis had an easy victory if Italy had taken Ukraine on their previous turn and the Germans took Bryansk with the main stack. The Russians would be able to get their stranded troops back to Moscow with a attack/retreat this turn, but would have lost so many infantry this round that victory would have been assured for the Axis. The expected board is shown in the attached save file. German units might not be standing in Moscow for a while if you are spending large amounts protecting Europe from the Amphibious assault, but you would have an almost unstoppable path to winning the game. This no-bid game should have been VERY easy to win as Axis.
The game isn’t lost with the moves that were done, but Russia now has so many good options on R6.

Russia would have lost an average of 24 units on the hit-and-run in Bryansk while the Germans would have lost 17. The big game changer is the lost Russian units have 48 on defense when the siege of Moscow finally commences, while the killed Germans only would contribute 17 on attack. With a more aggressive German opening in this game, a G7 final assault would have been possible.
Attacking Belarus certainly was a very valid option. With good dice, the game would have been over for Russia; with bad dice the Germans would be in a very dangerous situation. I personally liked having my fast moving units within striking range of Volgograd and the Caucasus since those two are a 19 PU swing for the Axis.
I have found that in balanced mod games the Russians can threaten moves towards Novgorod while hiding in Moscow becomes the only strategic option for normal games against good opponents.
