@RYNO87 Indeed, the fighters move independently from the carrier. All combat movement happens simultaneously. So while the fighters fly the carrier moves. So you have described it correctly.

“Attacking and defending units in each space are considered to fire at the same time, but for ease of play you roll dice in
sequence: attacker first, then defender.”

“Surprise Strike: Each attacking submarine conducting a Surprise Strike rolls one die, scoring a hit on a roll of “2” or less.
After the attacker has rolled for all attacking submarines, the defender chooses one sea unit for each hit scored and moves it behind the casualty strip. (Submarines cannot hit air units.) Then each defending submarine conducting a Surprise Strike rolls one die, scoring a hit on a roll of “1.” After the defender has rolled for all defending submarines, the attacker chooses one sea unit for each hit scored and removes it from play.” …

A&A 1941 is a 2 to 5 player game… no matter how many players you have, there are always two teams/sides… Axis… and Allies (hence the name)…

The game is won when one team or the other reaches its victory conditions… like taking the enemy team’s capitals (say the Allies win if they take Berlin and Tokyo).

By the rules of the game, its team vs team… there is no backstabbing your allies by the rules. Of course in your own home you can modify the standard rules all you want if everyone at the table agrees, but since you’re asking a straight up question on an A&A forum… no… it’s not a free for all, there is no double-dealing across team lines… either the Allies win or the Axis wins. Victory conditions are stated in the rules, but by the rules, there is no backstabbing or “free for all”.

No. If a Sub’s target survives, it can always retaliate.
Submerging is instead of attacking or defending. A Sub cannot attack and submerge in he same round.
It is always worth attacking a lone Carrier with Fighters on board, if the Fighters do not have a safe place to land, as they will go down with the Carrier. The lesson is: always keep a Destroyer with your fleet, if the enemy has a Sub in range.

yeah i have 8 dice, and dont use the ones that came with the game if i can help it cause they have rounded corners and spin all day
