…has some suprisingly amusing cartoons for an official government publication dealing with a serious topic like military ranks.  Then again, I once heard a rule of thumb on shipboard behaviour supposedly given to enlisted sailors: “If you see something, salute it.  If it doesn’t salute back, pick it up.  If it can’t be picked up, paint it.”

Yes, the other name was Desert One, but Eagle Claw is also used interchangeably.  My mistake.

Uhm, this is normal.

During the olympic hostages Pres. Carter hummed and hawed and wondered what to do.  Russia found the brother of the terrorist leader and mailed him a testicle with a little note saying “more to follow.”

They got their athletes back next day WITH a televised apology.  America got theirs back after a major financial transaction and many weeks without an apology….

Guess who has problems with terrorists today and who doesnt?

Yea, well, now you see why I re-enlisted, CC.  Easier working days, less responsibility, much better benefits, a lot less stress, longer life expectancy….

Ah well…I hear teaching’s a breeze compared to being a senior project manager…

I’d say appropriate is when the government decides you are mature enough to die for your country.  After all, if you can poison yourself with tobacco at 18, why can’t you help your health until you are 21?

I am in the Army National Guard, I just rejoined after 2 years out. I had 12 years in so I figured I would go back and finnish 8 more to retire.

I am proud to say I am a Gulf War Veteran and I would do it again if needed.

well, it seems more effective than the North A. circus of justice - applying judgements from one case to another etc. Current jurisprudence looks more like a patch-work quilt than the smooth material of the Talmud.

Well, the notion of laws being fair did not come up yet :)…
i must admit, that north american system is (like the former minister of justice in germany said) “crappy” :)
