French Set…need help to finalize set.

I agree. Don’t understand quite what WOTC was thinking using Soviet units to represent French vehicles, planes and ships.

I think of all the OOB pieces available, British units would most likely be a decent representation of French units. A lot of their military hardware were at least somewhat similar in design. Certainly closer than Russian. The French didn’t have anything close to resembling a T-34, but the Matilda could possibly pass for a French tank.

A more neutral term would be “Third Republic French”.

pre-defeat france: it’s France at set up before Germany’s first turn.

I would have prefered blue american’s because through lend lease America built the tanks and plane France fought with after the defeat.

you know what would be really cool, is if you did one french set in that bluish grey they had for germans in revised. it would be perfect for the peopel who want vichy france and you could mix and match with the revised pieces

Isn’t the Soviet set coming out, followed by German and Japanese sets?

The structure of what comes out should be based on greatest need ( revenue) ?

So far we got German set #1, Americans, and Neutrals. Since FMG already made Italian, would not the best idea be making Soviets and Japanese?

France just lasts one turn and you got a few infantry left to bother with.

I would rather see a British set and a Japanese set before a French set but I guess I didn’t vote in that poll.

thats good news, my japanese player is getting mad hes getting left behind.

Russians will be out in 4-6 weeks, followed by Japanese.

For Global War 39 I use the AAE40 Blue French for France and Free French and use the Blue-Grey Germans from AA42 Revised (or was it D-Day?).

If we could get at least those two colors for HBG France I’d be very happy.

As this is the finalize the French thread, I would really like to get French naval ships.

Bearn for a carrier
Richelieu for a battleship

Not fussy about the other classes.

I would much rather have a french cruiser and destroyer then a Carrier and Battleship. I would be actually putting the cruiser and destroyer on the board every game.

More for historical significance that actual gameplay.

But the French Navy should have a BB in the set-up anyways.

I agree that the French Navy is sadly under-strengthed but as we stand right now, I would rather a French destroyer/cruiser combo over the battleship/carrier combo.
