@Grandmaster-Bert
nice like the artwork :) Seems as if the unit names are a tad too dark but it all looks good

You easterners WOULD take a train. Pfftp. :D
One thing you can count on is our Canadian hospitality, the coffee is worlds best, the beer is strong, hockey playoffs will be at a fever pitch, and the A&A table will be all setup and ready to go. I guess you already know that being from Canada yourself…… (just checked your profile).

Back on topic…… This poll sucks, why does it end at 26+, doesn’t he realize that the first young players to break open an original A&A classic game, are in their late 40s now? All this poll tells us, is that the majority of the membership are over 26, and an 8 year old can’t play for sh!t.

because he’s not very old?
hope it’s a he -

To the original poster - you should check this out. This poll has already been done, but with proper age distribution.
252 people have voted on this previous poll, and only 15.2% are under 21!!1 of that 15.2% is me! I am 12 years old. I started playing roughly 6 months ago, with A&A D-day.

Yes grasshopper I am fairly young, and I didn’t expect so many people older than 30 or so still playing. Sorry

I have to “fly” out.
So should You! Probably get tix for $500 - $700 round trip.
If you’re so DAMN old then you only have so many “good” years left. :D I’m calling you out boy! Get in shape for April 2011, do some walking/jogging/training, get your butt on a plane, and get up to Oshawa.
When was the last time you were there? REALLY? You need some Canadian Spring!
Gar, the last time I was in Canada was June 1958. Right after my discharge from the Marine Corps. I was in Alaska as well and was doing a little fishing. Even if I could afford it I would not fly any more. What a hassle! I will probably be rehabing from another knee operation about then. I will be happy if I am still able to walk during those remaining years you mentioned. It looks like my AA playing days will have to be confined to my own war room or someplace close by.

I’m thinking of bringing one or two “costumes” - uh, I mean uniforms.
Would anyone else?
Ok im in on this! :-D though only question is which uniform? German Gebirgsjaeger, Soviet Infantry, British Kings own rifle regiment, Finnish jaeger, or union infantyman? :-D (God I have way to much free time! )
On another note, If I wanted to bring a home made game would anyone have any intrest in playing it? It has professionaly made plasitc playing pieces and a board made by a comissioned artist, so when I say home made I dont mean drawn on a bit of poster paper.

DUDE! You were discharged BEFORE Vietnam. That’s Crazy!
But hat’s off to you!
Florida hmm… I’m going to find out when my dad’s going down there next, Maybe I’ll go along with him this time, and take you to task - in your own bunker - A&A Style.

34That’s OK because it’s fixable. Edit the poll by dividing it into decades starting with 10-20, than 20-30, 30-40, 40-50, all the way to 100+, Than reset the poll to zero, and finally change the topic title to include (New Poll).

I would welcome you into my “bunker” anytime Gar. Yes, before Vietnam. If I had shipped over in 1958 I would have been right in that mess. At the time of my discharge I had never even heard of Vietnam. Ike was still President.
-
The poll has been reset to decades. I didn’t put 10 and under because I would assume a 9 year old or under would A. not have an account or B. not be good enough to really matter. If you don’t mind voting again it would be cool to see a more precise counting

Ok, I put my number in. And in an other 5 months I would have been the first to put in 60 + :-o
Since I bought the Global War 1939 map from HBG, I am going all the way buying everything HBG and FMG are making. I think I will put up for sale all my others A&A games, includind the Anniversary ed. to make up for all the items I bought and will buy in the future. I also have the Invasion of Italy map and plan to buy the Okinawa and WWIII pdf ones. I am interested in the Solomon map only, so far. :-)
I’ve been playing games for a ’ long ’ time, only interrupted by work. I used to own hundred of AH and SPI games but sold them all because I was the only one playing those games around here. :-(

PS Very interested by FMG convention, will see.
PPS Ok, just checked in and found out I wouldn’t have been the first one to put in 60 +
-
Otahere, you should have added 60-70 and then 70+
-
I wasn’t sure how many there would be…. I can though and reset the polls again.

I’m 48 and been playing A&A since I was in my teens. I have “Classic”, Pacific, Europe, D-Day & now Global (Pacific 1940 & Europe 1940). I mainly play w/ a close freind and my sons. So I guess that makes me one of the “old timers” on here.

My older brother is 63 and he plays A&A with my Dad, 87 and I, 53.

Great poll, me and my friends were always wondering if we would be beaten by 12 year old posters on the blog, turns out aa.org is populated by vets!
We play this Great Game regularly and we are (4 of us) all in the age group 27-29.
Got into contact with AA Classic in college when I was 18 and have been playing ever since. From Classic, to revised, to AA50, to G40 (and scaling down to E40 again due to the impossible lenghth the f2f game has come to)
The guy who brought me into contact with the game was playing since he was 10 or so. Last time he played was in 2008 though, he really was bedazzled (and confused) by AA50.
Cheers!

My Dad, 87, is a WW2 veteran. We all started playing the old game of RISK back in the 60’s (when I was only a kid). The games would usually go on for the whole week-end before someone decided to “shake things up” and after an hour of dice rolling someone would win.
We got into the original A&A(now called classic) when it came out in the mid 80’s.
We now play the 1940-Global version on a much enlarged map. We play OOB(w/addenda) rules because my Dad doesn’t want to change the rules every 6 months or so. Anyway, this is a GREAT GAME!“Tall Paul”
