I think I will still preorder, even though its not limited. I don’t want the price increase to be like 1940 was and be caught in that.

Global and 1942 were not limited but they sold out and the price went up huge. Buy 6 each minimum.

@Running-Away Per page 22 of the rulebook, units of another power may be transported only if that power is friendly. Per page 12, the US is not considered to be either friend or enemy to any other power while it remains neutral. Therefore, the US cannot transport units belonging to any other power while it is neutral.

True, true. I’d rather get the old games before getting new ones. But yeah, I’d like a Kursk and Stalingrad game in the future, maybe even naval battles like Leyte Gulf.

No beef, really. I just draw a distinction between what might foreseeably happen in a new, 2.0 version vs. what would occur with house rules/tweaking.

Given the WotC delivery on generic sculpts, no cold, hard, IPCs, and the like, I doubt anything like cavalry would make an appearence. Changes in the rules, however, are a more likely thing. Africa, especially, needs some simple but specific rules (ie. restrictive movement, reduced unit attacks/defense, etc.)

However, they would be something I would consider adding in a house-rule/variant derived from A&A 1914. But they would need to add something significant or unique to the game play. I know that’s been discussed in other threads, and personally, I’m split on the issue. I am more likely to add trains and fortresses to the mix (e.g. the latter did significantly affect the course of the war, such as in Liege or Przemsyl). It gives another focus for artillery/infantry, and siphons off troops from the otherwise attritional wars o’ stacks.

Point being, I’m just drawing distinctions between “what might” and “would if”. And nothing personal was intended.

I personally bought 2 copies of Spring 1942 to get extra pieces, because they were cheap, and then bought 1 copy of 1942 2nd Edition for all the nice upgrades. I am very happy with '42 2nd Ed.

I skipped the original Eur & Pac 1940 games but later bought 1 copy of each of the 2nd Editions, so no major financial cost to me there. I’m very glad I did that, and I’m very happy with the 2d Editions (and Global) now.

As for 1914, I would prefer to get a 2nd Edition instead of the 1st (if a 2nd is ever released). I don’t mind paying for the whole game as long as I hadn’t already bought the 1st Ed. I am disappointed by the lack of individual unit sculpts for the rest of the units, although the Infantry look nice. I’m in no hurry to purchase 1914; I will wait and see what people think of the game once they’ve got it in their hands and played a few times first.

In 1915 French and British troops marched into Greece for preparing the landing at Gallipoli, specifically on the island of Tenedos and in Salonika.

This happened in blatant violation of Greek neutrality. (maybe because it was just a scrap of paper)

Yeah ask Germans that “ideally” Belgium must have been parted in regions that were needed to get into france and those that werent… :roll:

In fact the head of state King Konstantin didnÂ´t want the entente to operate in his country (doesnÂ´t matter if they were “invitated” by good payed venizelos)
He was actually forced by an french ultimatum to abdicate in 1916.
For that goal the good allies made an exerted pressure on Greece (British and French ships blockaded the Greek to starve people)

This map (in larger size than first edition !!) would be my favourite map for second Edition. (of course it would be in english :wink:

All changes:

2 more tts for Russia: St.Petersburg and Kaukasus ( Starting Set Up for both were the additional 3 Inf from the Tournement Rules)

1 more tt for Turkey: Armenia (Prevents Russian Units from taking Bagdad in Round 1)

Germany looking like Germany in 1914 not in 1919. Bulgaria reaches the coast/Finland no more.

Switzerland with its formidable army and difficult mountaineous region worth 3 IPC.

4 more USW-Zones (historical)

Mexico as Minor Power to simulate the Zimmermann-Note, some Zones for the US.

Konstantinopel is handled like Suez Canal along with one more SZ in the Med.

In Africa some colonies allow to place 1 Inf. when mobilzing your troops (brown K). (Mexico also)

I kept the rest from original game although there were some things I still don´t agree with (you can check out some of my maps in the 1914 map tweaks in the House Rules) but for the simplicity of the game I can live with it.

My wish would be that it is forbidden for AH in the first turn to attack Italy or Romania because these two were Central Powers when AH declared war against Serbia in 1914.
