Re: Field Marshal Games Pieces Project Discussion thread

Hey Jeremy, has your factory made the mould for Germany yet?

The Italian pieces came out really nice, excellent quality.  If the German pieces are of equal quality, do you want to mess with that?  I know the factory keeps seeming to drag out the process, but at least they do turn out a really nice product.  I would be afraid if you went to another factory that quality might end up suffering.  Plus, what would you do about making more Italians and Germans since your current factory has the moulds for them?  However many sets you have ordered, I am sure you will eventually sell out and need more.

  • Normally factories like this will make you pay for tooling and you own the tooling. There are lots of quality injection mold companies out there that can do the job I’m sure.

You might want to make sure you have a new company lined up who sounds reasonably confident that they can use another company’s molds before you cut the old one loose. Show them your sample pieces and they should be able to figure out how the molds work by inspecting the parting lines and fill positions.

Matching colors might be the biggest hurdle. Too bad that other company can’t get it together.

It is just embarrassing at this point.  THEY gave me a date of AUG 10th.  It was THEIR date!  So I hinted that release “could” be SEPT 10th…. giving them an entire MONTH extra just in case.

They have not returned my last inquiry…  which means they are not done yet and know I will blast them.

I believe revisiting your contract with this company is in order.

Perhaps a rider that states they do not get paid until certain objectives are met, on time (or in a timely manner).  If those objectives are not met in a timely manner, then concessions need to be made in your favor.  If not, then you take your molds and go elsewhere (although that unfortunately involves incurring extra cost, no company truely worth being in business is going to risk losing business)

  • Contracts enforceable in China?  I doubt it.  Good luck on that one!

  • threten to nuke them:P

  • Gents, great idea won’t happen FACT:  You can’t Nuke the Chinese, Russians, Iranians or anybody else unless you can get the current President to open the football and release the launch codes.  Then and only then will the USAF Global Strike Command open fire with Minutemen IIIS ICBMS or Trident missiles from boomers.  Current POS won’t attack unless we are attacked and then I doubt he would authorize an attack anyway.  If we did attack we could be assured of MAD Mutually Assured Destruction.  I am a 31 year retired USAF E-8

Very well.  I’m sure it’s a two way street then.  The factory does not deliver product in a timely fashion (on the dates the factory themselves provided), they don’t get paid.  Contract or no.  I’m sure that’s incentive enough to get things done in time.  If not, use of a different company is likely in order.

If it is like my factory, they do not do anything until they get paid.
Jeremy might of had to already pay for product, but you need to get that from him.

    @FieldMarshalGames:

And apparently our Factory is RETARDED.  After Germany we may take the contract to a new factory.

If you go to a different factory, would that set your project timing back even farther?

Not necessarily farther back in the long run.  It might be a case of adding a brief delay in the short term (in order to switch factories) for the long-term gain of having the pieces produced by a factory which delivers its goods in better time than the current one.  (As the old expression goes, taking a step back in order to jump further ahead.)

Jeremy’s idea of taking the contract to a new factory sounds like it could be a good solution.  At the very least it’s an option worthy of being investigated.  During the past year or so, we’ve all been working from the theory that production would speed up once all the kinks had been worked out in the production process for the Italian pieces.  This is a reasonable theory if we also assume that the delays to date have simply been the result of the learning process which is normal when you are figuing out for the first time how to do something new.  If, on the other hand, the basic problem is that the factory Jeremy is using lacks either the skill or the motivation (or both) to do its work in a timely fashion to the desired standard of quality, then we’re not dealing with a learning issue, we’re dealing with a factory competence issue that may not be solved with added experience.  In which case switching to a new factory might be the best option.

You got it!  The only other guy on here that ACTUALLY has been through this.  They have my money, and all I have is a clock that keeps on ticking….

  • I know it has been a very long wait for these Italians but they look incredible. If Germany looks as good Fmg that might make you a million. BTW any updates on any of the units you will be sculpting for the upcoming countries is greatly appreciated. After all I believe that was part of the purpose of this thread. Can’t wait for the Russian armor.

  • what has been decided for their armor? i was hopeing kv-2 or is-2/3  and a t34(any)

  • CONGRATULATIONS ON 200 PAGES- UNFORTUNATLEY IT WILL BE ANOTHER 200 PAGES BEFORE THIS PROJECT IS COMPLETED

Could it be that the factory is bumping you in order to do bigger orders?

Well, then I guess you need our support now more than ever. Hang in there.

That is exactly what I have been thinking! I just wish that there was some way that I could help you Jeremy.

Hey Jeremy, too bad your last name isn’t Soprano.  Then maybe you could send Paulie and Sylvio over to “talk” to the factory manager.  That would get things moving, heh heh.

  • Field Marshal, really like the pieces for Italy, will be buying the sets as you put them out  :-)

on a side question, what map is that that the Italian pieces are displayed on?
