Thought I would add,the Italian Fiat BR20 was used by Japan(85 planes) during the early
war period.Also used by several other countries.

FMG, can you confirm whether the Fiat BR20 will also be included in the Japan set, designated as the Japanese ‘Betty’ bomber? Or, will this unit be desiganted as the Japanese Mitsubishi G4M bomber?

Do you have any firm plans for these units for Japan yet? Thank you.

Hey Lozmoid,
While the Fiat BR20 may have been used by the Japanese, I am pretty sure it will NOT be included in the Japanese lineup.  In making these sets, FMG wants each piece to be unique to that country.  So, I am sure the Japanese Transport Plane/Medium Bomber will be a model that was uniquely Japanese, both in production and use.

Also, the Mitsubishi G4M bomber IS the “Betty”.  “Betty” was the Allied classification for this bomber and G4M was the Japanese classification.  Like the Mitsubishi A6M fighter was referred to as “Zero” or “Zeke” by the Allies.

It’s just that I was under the impression that the Fiat BR20 sculpt had already been described by some viewers as being the Japanese G4M. Sorry about the confusion. I’m sure FMG will clarify all this in time.

It wasn’t the Fiat BR20 sculpt, it was the one right before it which was just labeled “Italian Heavy Bomber”.  That’s the one that looks like the G4M Betty.  I believe it’s the last sculpt on the first page of the FMG Games Pieces Project board.

I just read  up on the Combat Dice thread.  I saw pics for both countries and they look amazing.  Can’t wait to get them.  I will keep checking there for that link Jeremy mentioned for upgrading my current dice sets.

That is wonderful news! So far I have on pre-order: E40, Combat Dice, and tower, now if I can just land FMG’s Italian Army, and the new dice I’ll be all caught up. Hopefully one day I can get an Ammo Box.

Love it.  After seeing the Italian AA pieces, I NEED to replace them with yours … after a quick spray to light green.

… their French pieces suck too (Russian French units?  They are rather socialist, but isn’t this going too far?).  I wish you’d make them next instead of the Germans.  And I need a King George V BB to relpace the British ship, too!
