    U resign?

  • I don’t think that I can win anymore. Thanks for playing!
In the end it’s was (more or less) a coinflip in Volgograd, but I think in total dice were on my side (e.g. Smolensk). I’m a little bit disapointed that I underestimated/overlooked allies capturing Volgograd, but that’s poker!

Nevertheless I enjoyed the game and learned a lot: Maybe I’ll be a little bit slowlier in the future (but maybe not ;-))

    Well,

dont know from where to start

maybe the craziest game i ever played

  • First of all I wish to thank U for the game. U accepted me as the allies with +15, U play with great pace (i like it), but sometimes it gets me too, and i play too fast.

This game is fantastic , but sometimes it can make U a fanatic :D

U remind me of my old pal Trulpen. He played very well, he played fast, and was a good and positive person.

Wow, thanks! Great honor. I read in the forum that he passed away :-(. I never played him, but read several tactics post from him.

  • As for the game analysis

well, first of all i think i never played against JDOW1. I see its more often now.

I made a strategic mistake by allowing Ur navies to merge in the Mediterranean. That haunted me the entire game (and almost caused a loss).

I was able to empty USA, UK, India and Oceania, and be on the frontline with the Chinese, but the Med thing kept bothering me.

I came to late to Normandy, then i made that mistake in sz 105 (U exploited it very well) and lost trannies and the momentum.

On the Pacific side i was too slow with the Amur stack, I should have put it to Amur before rd 3. U used that and pulled the Japs south.

With UK Pacific i bought too many ships (and air). I should have been buying more mechs, especially in one of the early rounds what i missed.

In the later part of the game i was too fast in play, (i had big stress at work and home and couldnt dedicate myself 100 % to the game, but i wanted to keep the speed pace) so i messed up in France and Egypt

and u used it very well.

I made one oversight in France though, i thought that TUV difference is not a problem since i have the lead in TUV of almost 1000 , and +100 per round in PUs.

But i lost the momentum there, and i should have been using battle calculator more there.

I rushed to France, and it was not good.

Also i was eager to capture Volgograd and make a breaktrough in Russia, and ignoring and underestimating axis capabilities in taking and holding Cairo and Volgograd at the same time.

I learned a lesson there. Should be more modest next time.

I think i deserved the win, but i am sad u dont get any i dont know extra point for playing a very good game from the begining to the end.

U offered little mistakes for me to exploit, only a few oversights where i straffed ur land with my air (last time in Caucaus was painfull but it paved the way for victory).

I think strategically, U were confused with my KJF (Kill Japan First) or SJF (Slow Japan First)

or as i like to mention IJF (Isolate Japan First).

The decision to go for Johnston and NT harbours and move to India earliest possible proved fantastic.

  • Trulpen dislaked my ˝Yunnan superfortress˝ strategy. He called me an unorthodox player who plays unlogical strategies.

But as i said, i play for fun primarily, and then i try to combine the fun and the strategies.

It was one of my first games via forum and I think I have to adapt the speed. Don’t wanted you to wait long (and I also didn’t want to wait ;-))
I learned that AAguns are not that woRthless I ever thought, I also think there have never been more facilities on the map ever :-D. #crazygame
I hope we can meet each other again for a rematch in future (or similar if you prefer to play the Allies)

  • I would like to hear Ur comments of the game,

and ur comments on my comments

We can discuss good and less good moves from axis and allies side

to improve our play in the games to come

    Yeah

its good u play fast, but fast only is enough. U dont have to be very fast (too fast) , altough concerning the speed, u hadnt had much tactical mistakes.

  • How did u played before?

Via mail or alive on the board?

  • @Amon-Sul said in BM4 Fasthard (Axis) vs Amon-Sul (Allies +15):

or as i like to mention IJF (Isolate Japan First).

Yes absolutely. In the few board games we had there was always KGF and Japan got unstoppable. But if china and anzac hold Japan at bay US and UK can care about European Axis.

    Yes, that is the premise.

Japan is weird, on one hand so powerful and strong, and in the same time very vulnerable if pressured on many sides.

AA guns are great, especially if u have them from the start, and can use them ˝for free˝. But I also bought some since they can cause real (and potentially great) threat to the enemy airforce.

  • Yeah, I like to buy many facilites (maybe too much) :D

I would like to play a rematch, but first a need a few days off

I would like to be allies again and test something new, with 24 bid (or 16 bid) if u dont wish to give me the bid of 24.

Then i suggest , after we finish that game, that we play a third game with me as the axis and u as the allies with a +16 (or +24) bid.

    cheers :)

  • @Amon-Sul said in BM4 Fasthard (Axis) vs Amon-Sul (Allies +15):

I would like to hear Ur comments of the game,

and ur comments on my comments

I only played live with two friends of mine (I’m advertising them to play via forum as well). I always had doubt about the dicing but I didn’t know about the diceserver to protect againt cheating.
I read a lot in the forum, followed games here and watched youtube-wars.

About our game (I hope I don’t tell any rubbish ;-))
First I was wondering about your bid, I never liked buying AA guns, now I don’t like it if my opponent buys them…
I also read a lot in the forum about J1 so I wanted to try, (not best idea in combination with the yunnan stack i think).

I was also wondering that your complete navi left the med and italy alone. (Italy liked it, Japan not)
Merging GER and ITA navi in SZ91 and blocking US from going and also attacking there went very well, saved time and capacity to concern about russia and costed lots of money for the US, I think this helped Japan. (Nearly bought an airbase in Gibraltar, but I wanted to go into the med.
Killing SZ105 again saved the European axis time and also lots of capacity .

In round 14 I made the biggest mistake I think, when I decided to stay in SZ36 at French Indo (and not at SZ35 at the Phillies) So you could stack at the Phillies and had all possibilities. Now European axis had to speed up. (Thank you Japan!)

I think I could have captured and hold Egypt (hold Paris as well, Rome could be blocked) if you didn’t free Paris. Therefore I think it was costy but necessary.

When I finally attacked Egypt I thought about all I think except a small little victory city called Volgograd. Had few thoughts about the purchase, one tank driving to holidays to siberia. Now I know I should have captured Kazakhstan to block the mechs from Afganistan, strafe/capure Rostov and retreat to Stalingrad. Purchase max defence in Moscow/Stalingrad. Annoying but it’s only a game (sometimes I have to tell me that more times ;-))

  • Concerning Japan

i think u were too passive in the late game.

Not just rd 14 i think u had more options there with ur fleet, especially since my navy was big, but more defensive in nature (consisting of several nations and lacking USA air , maybe even ships, for greater offensive capacity).

For me USA air also helped a lot killing Japanes inf on non-coastal territories, it gave China free inf, time , money and space ( not needing to spend a lot of units in lots of small battles, since China lacks air which Japan has in abundance.).
