    But I assume you will hit something like 4-5 hits overall in the first round (including the sub hit you already scored), in which case I would only choose sub casualties (and keep the carrier intact).

    In fact, the only question here is if I want the carrier damaged or not. If the battle goes average or better than average for me, I’d like to keep the carrier intact.
    If you score more than 5 hits first round, I will choose to tip the carrier and go max defense.
