It looks like I failed to save the game after US2 π
You can see from dice e-mails I rolled about 18 hours ago.
I will try to reconstruct my turn - I will do the same purchase and combat move I had before I knew the dice rolls, which were victories in Sikang and Algeria.
Just boring infantry and transports for the Atlantic - I doubt that you have any problem with this.
I had a few games open and was trying to help the developers of UHD so had a few things going on at once ππ -
Interestingly the 2nd time around with Play by E-mail the exact same results emerged.
-
I also clicked end of non combat and then remembered how I had moved and placed
I meant to move 2 infantry from West Canada to East Canada, and place 2 infantry on WUS, which is what the map is after edit.
Terribly sorry, thatβs embarrassing

Battle in West Africa Sea Zone

Americans defend with 1 submarine
Germans roll dice for 1 fighter in West Africa Sea Zone, round 2 : 0/1 hits, 0,50 expected hits
1 fighter owned by the Germans retreatedThis is according to Triple A. kwas knows the rules pretty well and weβve been playing that you withdraw before attacker choosed whether to press the attack.
I canβt find it in the rulebook, on page 19 it seems very unclear to me when exactly the attacker decision to retreat is. If itβs last, after subs withdraw, then I am correct.Iβll see what kwas cites, first.
It doesnβt matter in this situation because the sub is going there on US turn anyway, so I can proceed without knowing the answer yet.
Thank you for the move, I am really enjoying my games of Classic, so thank you for asking about it for almost a year, now.
I will be good and confused back on G40. You can even unload infantry to 2 different territories from one transport, in NCM only, in this version. So many differences.
-
I found in the FAQ that a player canβt use more pieces than are in the box. So only 4 ICβs can be built together by both sides, and no power can have bombers in more than 3 places, carriers in more than 2, etc.
Of course Triple A isnβt programmed to do this (I mean, Iβm not surprised at all).
Does anyone play with this rule that is in the official FAQ? Iβm asking kwas also.
If you guys donβt know, we can ask krieghund or someone (not sure if this was before his time)This would introduce a LOT of extra strategies to the game!!

Youβve sucked me into a whole new arena. π₯Έπππ

This is only according to Triple A, which is often wrong.
Rulebook, on page 19 is not undeniably clear when exactly the attacker decision to retreat is. If itβs last, then it is after subs withdraw in step #7 and I would actually be correct.
I just wanted to be clear on what the rule is supposed to be so I can play it correctly in the future.
I also see from the FAQ that subs CAN withdraw to the zone the attacker came from (if the attacker emptied it out), thus blocking the attackerβs retreat to that zone. CRAZY! -
No, it is clear. I didnβt see this.
#7 Submarines withdraw
#8A Repeat above steps 2 to 7 untilβ¦
A. Attacker Withdraws - The Retreat Option - - Special Privilege of the Attacker: the attacker can retreat by stopping combat and moving ALL attacking units in the battle BACK to ONE adjacent friendly or unoccupied sea zoneβ¦I typed it exactly as it is in the rulebook, the emphasis including all caps are NOT mine
Thank you for the discussion, now another rule is firm in our minds.
Recap:
Defending sub that is missed by air may withdraw to any adjacent unoccupied zone. This means attacking a sub with air can actually hurt the attacker, and could potentially hurt them BIG TIME -
Will move soon. All this rules discussion is not a game stoppage.
