HT1… You sonnofabitch! :-D :-D Been dreaming about this game for a while my friend. Despite the piles of HBG plastic at my house, I have reorganized my AA50 game into the finest that WOTC has to offer! I have taken all the best plastic and paper and put into one box. Thankfully I have piles of HBG plastic at my house so I can play G40 and GW39. See you on the battlefield! No doubt pics and AARs to follow.
Movies to watch while playing AA

I second Band of Brothers. What a great miniseries. If you haven’t seen it, watch it now.

“Don’t you throw… that ruddy spear… at me…” fires service revolver into face of attacking Zulu…
-
Zulu dies…. 120 take his place… Lets see you fire again.
-
We generally have military marches from the time period playing in the background. If you ste i up right the music even matches up with the turns pretty much.
See this thread for some links.

BANG!!
“Don’t you throw… that ruddy spear… at me!”
*Runs Zulu through with sabre while reloading service revolver one handed… using special technique taught to a few high ranking English officers…"

Hehe. I second the choice of Das Boot. It is both funny and scary when the silence breaks with a really loud, really desperate whisper in german. Especially when everybody sucks at german.
-
Das Boot.
Easily. Creates a great gaming atmosphere. It’s dull and monotonous enough that it seeps into the background as random noise and chatter. There’s also no monotone narrative to listen to (which is what you want to avoid). U
Unlike other war films, which are distracting, this movie isn’t filled with explosions and shootouts. The movie is long enough (I use the 5 hour director’s cut edition) that it can be played during a game of A&A without looping. Most of all it’s in German, which again, sets the mood.
Sometimes I just use the opening screen for Medal of Honor – that works well too.
I’ll also nominate Downfall, for similar reasons as Das Boot. Plus a lot of it takes place in a war room.

More Zulu’s come! Mahahaaha

I run a game group and we try to do themes. Eg: We play Samurai Swords (shogun) and have Saki and Japanese strings in the background.
When it is my turn to pick a game I set the AAA theme with WORLD AT WAR doc running on the TV (mute) and a mix of 40’s music and GI JIVE radio broadcasts.
I know it sounds strange but it makes for a great game day.

When Lions Roard
This movie lets you see and feel the struggles the Allies had to put up with in WWII.

The Green Berets with John Wayne

You keep mentioning “Zulu” but you leave out “Zulu Dawn”? which shows the battle just before Rorkes Drift that the Zulu’s actually “won” even though it cost them greatly.
In the end though “Kelly’s Hero’s” is number 1 in my book, you don’t have to actually watch it since just hearing the lines is enough to get me laughing.

My god you guys rock!
To much war histoy in one place…. NAhhh!!! -

Just like a Zulu, bringing a spear to a gunfight……
120?
Actually I believe they were only outnumbered 40 to 1… so that leaves 38 to deal with :-D

How about COMBAT, the old TV series?
Grew up watching that one every week!

I watch that twice per day 5 days a week on ALN.
Sgt. Saunders is the best!

I prefer Stalingrad, Thin Red Line, or Das Boat.
-
I’m surprised no one has mentioned Downfall.
-
I would think only allied players would prefer Downfall right?
